Atienza
She never knew her mother. She had always imagined her as this surreal creature-all bright colours and starlight. Brilliant in the sunrise and still twinkling in the sunset. But all she had was pictures, images in her mind of what might be. And her mother's feel. She could still remember her mother's warmth, and the way she had gently moved about the cocoons from....well....from wherever she was. She had no idea what other things there were out there...she imagined that she wasn't the only one out there like herself. She knew that there must be others. That was not her primary concern however. She hadn't felt her mother today, nor the day before that. And now there were these creatures tossing her about roughly, and she knew instinctively that she was no longer in the place that she once was!

Badly frightened, she desperately wanted to be out of the shell of a cocoon that she was in and face whatever was to come head on. Her only comfort was knowing that the things that had taken her out of her home smelled like her mother....or something quite akin to that. She assumed that they were not likely dangerous-after all, they were like her mother- but what deeply distressed her was leaving the only place that she called home and the comfort of familiarity.  She heard a voice, and was able to make sense of the words.

"Don't be silly Lucina. You can't raise two cocoons on your own. You and Tyri aren't ready for that. Wait until you're adults. Until then, we'll take care of them."
So, I do have siblings! she thought triumphantly. One of them at least. She wished that the frightful voice wasn't the one taking care of her. She wanted the ones that smelled like her. Suddenly, she heard another voice, only this one was nothing like the other one. The other one was one that she heard with her ears- this one was one that she heard in her head. It was quite a new experience for her. She listened carefully, curious as to the source of the "head sound."

*Pah! Us, not ready for cocoons! Your Nyxa doesn't know what she's talking about. One day we'll have lots of cocoons of our own, including those ones, and we'll raise them all!* said the first voice.

*Mm hmm....* mumbled the second one. *Whatever you say Lucina.*

*Are you agreeing with them Tyri?* she asked haughtily.

*Hardly,*the one called Tyri replied laughingly, *Well, I suppose I do agree with their reasoning. It's good logic Luci. We are too young. It won't be that long before they'll be ours. You can wait can't you?* The one that she now knew as Lucina sighed.

*I suppose. I just want so bad to have cubs of my own.*

*Eventually, dear heart. Patience.* replied Tyri warmly. She squirmed around restlessly in her cocoon, hoping to attract the attention of the head voice things.

"Look Vulcan, it's moving! They can't be that far from hatching!" If she could have, she would have nearly groaned in frustration. Not those things, she wanted the other things! She wanted to be with the one that wanted cubs!

"Why don't you let Lucina hold one of the cocoons for awhile Nyx? You know she'll take good care of it, and then you won't be worried about it moving all the time."

"Good idea Vulc," replied Nyxa. She could feel herself being passed on to the next thing that was to carry her. She felt instantly contented. It was one of those head speaker things. She felt the body warmth of the beast envelop her and it felt like home again. The smells, the warmth, the kindness... it was all the same. She quieted down instantly and curled into a ball within the cocoon.

*Look Tyri!* crowed Lucina. *It must like me! It's not squirming anymore!*

*True,* replied Tyri-Anu. *Why don't you ask Vulcan and Nyxa if you can name it.* Vulcan and Nyxa agreed to the naming of the two cocoons by the Egyptan pair.

*Hmmm.....* pondered Luci. *The squirmy one....well....the one that was squirmy I'll call Atienza. The second cocoon will be called Miasmic.*

*What kind of names are those?* laughed Tyri.

*Like you could come up with better,* retorted Lucina grumpily.

*I'm just kidding Luci. Rest easy.*

She nearly sighed. Atienza...so that was her name. She finally had a name, and another one to call mother. Completely and utterly content, she fell asleep.
