The Rainier Historical Museum is collecting all images that relates to the town and surrounding communities. Please donate whatever you have or let us scan your images if you do not wish to part with them. We are also looking for images of families who once or are still living in Rainier. Below is a few images from the collections of our members. These images will keep changing, so please return for another look.

Real photo postcard with the caption "Rainier, Ore. LOOKING EAST." This photo was taken in about 1910 looking east on "Main Street" that is now "A" street. A log flume is shown at the top of the photo. Most of the buildings on the left burnt down in a fire on June 28, 1924 and then a month later on July 27 the Grand Hotel (the white building on the far right) also was destroyed by a fire. The two buildings on the right still stand. The Rainier True Value store occupies the one on the near right and the Cornerstone Cafe operates in the building next to it.
Real photo postcard with the caption "MAIN STREET RAINIER ORE." This photo was taken in about 1920 looking west on "Main Street" that is now "A" street. Most of the buildings shown here, including the Bungalow Restaurant, was destroyed in a fire on June 28, 1924. The Columbia Stages bus service stopped in front of the Bungalow. Round trip in 1922 to Portland and back was $2.75.
Real photo postcard with the caption "Rainier, Ore. LOOKING WEST." This photo was taken in about 1910 looking down the Columbia River. A four masted ship can be seen in the middle of the photo docked and taking on lumber. The Lewis and Clark bridge didn't appear until 1930.
