Mindy's PORSCHE 924

My Daughter and I purchased this rust free 1982 Porsche 924 (top left)  for $650 bucks and we both worked hard to sand it down and get it ready for paint. It was originally a blue car so Mindy picked out a nice Intense Blue Metalic and we painted the car this fall ('05). We sprayed it with three coats of Dupont Nason Arcrylic enamel one step paint using an old sipion paint gun with good results and no runs. Mindy picked out the PORSCHE negative Stripes in silver off eBay to complete the new look. For little money and some hard work it turned out great! We had to rebuild the cylinder head and hone the engine block. We installed a new Turbo Cam and Lifters we purchased off ebay. The CIS fuel injection was shot so we fabricated our own WEBER converstion kit using a Progressive 32/36mm Carb and a Aluminium Intake Manifold off an old Audi 100. The manifold had to be cut and a vee-portion removed then welded in order to keep the carb level as the 2.0 litre engine was not so inclined in the AUDI as they were in the PORSCHE. Mindy's 924 options and features include a sun roof, power windows, power miriors, tachometer, engine gauges, air conditioning (removed), stereo, 15 inch spider web alloy wheels and a 5 speed transmission. We also added a 944 rear spoiler and are working on a 944 style front air dam. Mindy is 15 years old and has learned a lot about cars, mechanics, budgets, and economics during our 924 project.
