Porsche 944 is 1990 Firehawk Champion
Dear Clark,

Found you site under Race_Car_Gallery. Just wanted to let you know that
your info on the Kelly-Moss championship is a little bit wrong. In 1990
Jeff Purner alone won the championship...there was no co-championship.
True that the car was not much different than a 944 street machine. You
did get other drivers right., Bill Cooper, Nick Ham and Paul Tosi (also
included John O'Steen, Tom Rathbun and others).

Your info about John Vincent and Rich Moskalik being crew chiefs is
incorrect. Rich Moskalik was one of the owners along with his wife Kathy
Kellogg... hence the name, Kell(ogg)y-Mos(kalik)s. The crew chief was my
husband John Vincent who called all the shots that year and won the
championship against all odds.

This is all documented in the IMSA Year book of 1990. I will send you
attachments if you so desire. Also, my ! husband won the Sun Technicial of
the Year along with Jeff Purner wining the championship. The picture that
is on the original site (Racing Car Gallery 1) is an SCCA event, not An IMSA event. Probably the SCCA
event was a PCA event.

Just wanted to set the record right.

Thanks,

Mary Vincent
PS: See Racing Car Gallery 2;

1.  Picture 0001 is of my husband John (1990 IMSA Yearbook)  winning the Sun Technician of theYear award

2.  Picture 0002 is of Jeff Purner winning the Driver of the Year award (IMSA Yearbook 1990)

3.  Picture0003 is a pic with inset from the IMSA Yearbook 1990 of a pit stop, my husband John directing the pit stop.

4.  Picture 0004 is the winning "77" at the 24 hours of Watkins Glen 1991

5.  Picture 0005 is the "77" (above car) featured at the New York City Auto Show in 1991.

We agree with you that the 944 has not received the recognization that the 911 has but it has left it's mark in history.  When we won the 24 hours at Watkins Glen, one of our drivers was Bobby Akin, and the next morning he got a call from Hans Stuck congratulating him on winning his first 24 hour race.

I apologize for the quality of the first three attachment as they were scanned from the IMSA Yearbook.  The last two (0004 & 0005) are scanned from my photos

Again thank you,

Best regards,
    Mary Vincent
