Here at long last, is a hilarious game for "Kids" of all ages where young children have just as much chance of winning as older ones and even adults. This is a wild and funny kids game and unless you are one or feel like one , don't participate! The play is simple, but this new "STOCKIN' FEET" game really creates plenty of action for two to six players --- and even up to twelve players if you are having a party!
Players stand around the mat in their stocking feet waiting for the "CARD CALLER" to draw a card, call out an ANIMAL and how it is to be captured --- either with a Hand or FOOT. All players then scramble to locate that animal on the mat and be the first to place either their HAND or FOOT on it, as directed. The player who "captured" the animal wins that card. This is repeated for all 23 cards representing all the animals on the mat.
The players do not know which card will be drawn next, so they may move around the mat hoping to be nearest the next animal to be called. There is also a "SURPRISE" card which calls for players to "freeze" in position without moving. After all the animals are called, the player who has made the most captures is the WINNER
2. One person is chosen as the CARD CALLER who acts as referee. The CARD CALLER DOES NOT participate in the action of the game. It is suggested that the oldest child present or a grown-up act as CARD CALLER.
3. Carefully separate the 24 cards. There is one for each of the 23 animals pictured on the mat and one special "surprise" card. Mix them up and drop them into the plastic GRAB BAG.
4. At the start, players stand around the outside edge of the mat, any place they wish. From two to six players makes a good contest. More, even up to 12, can play if they don't mind being crowded.
THE OBJECT OF THE GAME IS TO "CAPTURE" ANIMALS AND WIN THE MOST CARDS.
2. All players around the mat now must RUSH to be the FIRST to get their HAND (either one) or FOOT (either one), as the case may be, unto the ANIMAL called. For example, if "HORSE_HAND" were called, all try to get their hand unto the HORSE prinnted on the mat. NOTE: A player MUST COVER the small CIRCLE or STAR in the animal to make a CAPTURE. Just having a hand (or foot) on some part of the animal IS NOT ENOUGH. Only ONE player, the one covering the circle or star, can CAPTURE the animal. A HAND animal cannot be captured with a FOOT nor a FOOT animal with a HAND. As an aid to the players, the BLUE animals(with circles) are always captured by a HAND and the RED animals (with stars) are always captured by a FOOT.
3. The player who captured the called animal WINS THAT CARD. Any question about who was the first to place his hand (or foot) on the circle (or star) must be decided by the CARD CALLER acting as referee. The winner of a card keeps it until the end of the game, storing it in his pocket or putting it aside in his own pile.
4. The game continues with the CARD CALLER drawing cards one at a time and calling out the animals to be captured as in rule 1. The players scramble to capture the animals and thus win the cards as in rules #2 and #3.
5. While players are waiting for the next animal to be called, they are allowed to walk or crawl around the mat, stand, squat, and take any position that they feel will help them for the next call.
6. When the CARD CALLER draws the special "surprise" card, instead of calling an animal he calls "SURPRISE---DO NOT MOVE". At this point, all players on the mat must "FREEZE" in the position they were in. They must hold this pose , without moving, while the CARD CALLER reaches in for the next card to call out the new animal. The FIRST player who may MOVE before the next card is called, as a penalty, must lose a previously won card, if he has one. The penalty card taken back by the CARD CALLER is put in the GRAB BAG to be drawn again later. The "surprise" card is used only once in the game and if, by chance, it is the last card in the bag, it is not to be used at all for that game.
7. When all 23 animals have been "captured" the game ends. Players count their cards and the WINNER is the player who has won the most cards.
This game is played just like the regular game EXCEPT ---
A. The CARD CALLER calls out the ANIMAL ONLY --- not the HAND or FOOT. The players must KNOW whether that animal is to be captured with a HAND or FOOT and place the proper one on it.
B. REMEMBER --- All BLUE animals (with circles) are captured with a HAND. All RED animals (with stars) call for a FOOT to capture.
This variation forces players to think quickly whether they need a hand or foot to make the capture. It adds to the fun and action of the play.
