Nightmares

Have you ever had a nightmare and known it wasn't real,
But no matter how hard you try, you can't help but cry?
I see it every day, I see it in your face, I see it in many ways,
The hurt, the pain, the anger and the rage
But I also see the triumph, the guilt, and the pride.
But I refuse to, I cannot see the love in any of this.
We murder and hate, we cry in rage,
Why can't we stay away from the hurt and the pain?

Somewhere deep inside of me I know it isn't real
A place where angels dance and fairies sing and prance
Is a place that seems unreal, where mercy and love are all we ever feel.
A place that no one's ever been, a place I long to see.
A place were we all can love, a place where we can be free.

But all I see is darkness, a never ending nightmare
A dream that can only be relinquished with death and dying here.
Nightmares in the dark, nightmares in my life,
Won't someone please set me free, let me be?
