SAYING GOOD-BYE TO
THE CLARENDON GAZETTE
The birth of the Clarendon
Gazette came about through community pride and a desire to inform residents,
present and past, of the “goings on” in the small Town of Clarendon. Since it’s inception, Linda Barrett, editor
of the community newspaper, has been the center of its success. Containing small town news of interest,
monthly columns written by Clarendon residents, town government updates and a
business directory listing local small businesses, Linda is the one who gives
the Gazette its professionalism and community appeal. Over the past ten years, people have come to
look forward to the monthly issues. In
addition to editing and type-setting the paper, Linda has handled subscriptions
and monthly mailings.
Residents have commented that
“Linda Barrett is a caring community resident.
She’s not only given her weekends each month to the Gazette, she attends
the monthly Town Board meetings, has volunteered and judged the Soapbox Car
Race each year, and attends the small community events and celebrations in
Clarendon. I’m proud she’s part of the
town!”
It is with regret Linda has resigned as Editor of the Clarendon Gazette, but as most of us know, working a full-time job in the city, leaves little time for home. Linda has found it’s time to give her family the priority of any spare time. It is intended that April 2005 will be her last issue.
