HALLOWEEN
Well, here it is! What you`ve all been waiting for! Clare in her cheerleader costume! The reason? Halloween disguise of course! They seem to take Halloween very seriously indeed over here and Friday at school was given over to a staff vs students basketball match and many, many Halloween games. Veronique, one of the people I work with in Barraute, had this costume sitting around at home and so was good enough to lend it to me. The skirt is very, very short and I spent a vast amount of time trying not to show anything to the students that they shouldn`t be seeing. In the evening we Anglophones had a Halloween party and even had some Francophone friends round too. It turned into a pretty bilingual kind of night and was really good fun. Tony sent me these pictures from his digital camera yesterday so you can see what we got up to.
This is a picture of me and the pumpkin that I carved. He is called Percival and is incredibly small because I had to carry him up and down the high street in Amos a few times and I couldn`t have carried anything heavier. In the background is the pumpkin that Tin carved. I don`t think it has a name but its quite stylish. Percival is now sitting in my kitchen at home, trying not to go mouldy.
To the left is a photo of Sally, dressed as Cinderella, and me waving my pom-poms with great enthusiasm. This photo was taken before the pumpkins were carved and used to decorate so the place looks a bit bare - except for all the balloons of course! Sally and Becca went balloon and bat crazy and did a good job of decorating their flat. Down below is a photo of the six of us. Tin is dressed as a miner, Isabelle is pretending to be Vietnamese, then Tony is a pirate, Becca is a fortune teller and Sally and me again. We loved the way that Tin`s refelctive stripes caught the flash light...and Becca is crouching in the photo which is why she looks so much smaller than Tony!
