Clanwilliam, heart of the Rooibos tea industry, is one of the ten oldest towns in South Africa. Each year during August and September, depending on the preceeding winter's rainfall, the landscape is transformed into a floral showcase, featuring up to 200 indigenous species of wild flowers. The Cederberg mountain range falls within the world renowned fynbos biome, and several endangered endemic fynbos species can be found in the area, for example the Clanwilliam cedar and the Snow protea.

Farm
is situated on
the edge of the Cederberg wilderness area, an isolated, undeveloped area
of breathtaking natural beauty, noted for its unique rock formations created
by the erosion of sandstone. Hiking trails, with overnight huts are
administered by the Cape Nature Conservation and hiking permits are obtainable
locally.
The area is also
famous for its concentration of indigenous rock art, and on a nearby farm
there is a self guiding trail where many bushman paintings can be viewed.
