The buildings in the Vennel have been restored from the time of Burns living and working here. The cottage on the left is the "heckling shop" where Burns worked with his partner Peacock. The heckling shop is now a small museum and open to the public. Burns living accomodation was in a cottage further up the Vennel, just by the lady on the top left hand of the picture.
