Evening: assemble at Strathallan, evening and food ‘al fresco’ (we decide on the night).

 

 

WEDNESDAY, 24^th August, 2005

 

10.30 am:  Congregate at base Strathallan School.

 

Go to:   Stirling Castle – max. £8.00 entry (there are discounts for groups and over 60 or

under 16).

Argyle’s House – free with Stirling Castle ticket.

 

Lunch:  Stirling Castle.

 

Visit     Kinneddar House

            Tulliebole Castle

 

Evening: Walk tour of Perth       1 St Ninian’s Church (Oliphant of Rossie

   stained glass window)

2 Salutation Hotel (Gask Oliphant (James) was

   Proprietor during the 1745 Rebellion)

3 Oliphant’s Vennel (named after a house owned by Olis)

4 Greyfriars Churchyard (monastery founded

   by 1^st Lord Oliphant).

                                                Supper in Perth – Patrick’s Bar?

 

 

THURSDAY, 25^th August, 2005

 

10.30 am:  Congregate at base Strathallan School.

 

Go to:   National Portrait Gallery

Visit portrait of Oliphant family (publishers)

Visit grave of Oliphant publishing family – St Cuthberts Church.

 

Lunch:  Leith to see various Oliphant outfits and lunch there.

 

Visit     Edinburgh Castle – approx. £9.00 entry .

Greyfriars Churchyard

Museum of Scotland:-

                        Bonnie Prince Charlie’s silver canteen (made by Ebenezer Oliphant) 

           

 

 

Evening: Talk by Thomas Meyer  :- “Laurence Oliphant (1829-88) an outstanding member of the clan”

            RO’s birthday party – Strathallan School

            Clan jam session.

 

FRIDAY, 26^th August, 2005

 

10.30 am:  Congregate at base Strathallan School.

            Turin House, Angus

 

Lunch:  Peggy Scott’s cafe.

            Arbuthnott House (gardens)

 

Evening: Eat in Arbroath

 Arbroath Abbey Pageant Society performance.

 

 

SATURDAY, 27^th August, 2005

Lunch:  Birnam Highland Games.

             Strathallan School, Clan meeting to form a council.

 

Evening: 19.00 - Ceilidh - Strathallan School – buffet and band. £12.00 per adult.

 

 

SUNDAY, 28^th August, 2005

 

10.30 am:  Congregate at base Strathallan School.

 

Go to:   Aberdalgie Church for service (11.15 am)

            See Sir William Olifard’s effigy

            Visit Sir William Olifard’s burial vault

           

Lunch:  Soup and sandwiches at Manse (Rev. Colin and Arlene Williamson).

            Rossie House/gardens – £3.00 entry

            Binzean – drive by only

            Mains of Condie – drive by only

            Rossie Ochil

           

Evening: Talks by Gordon MacGregor and Greg Ross.

            Strathallan School – barbeque overlooking Strathearn. £6.00 per adult.

            Demonstrations by Gordon’s friends.

MONDAY, 29^th August, 2005

 

10.30 am:  Congregate at base Strathallan School.

            St Leonards School – Rossie Oliphant gates and sundial

           

Lunch: Crail/Kellie Castle.

 

            Kellie Castle – approx. £9.00 entry

Evening: 18.30 - Supper, Strathallan School – Music Room. £10.00 per person.

              19.30 - Performances by KTA and Arbroath Abbey Pageant Society – entry £3.00.

 

 

 

 

TUESDAY, 30^th August, 2005

 

10.30 am:  Congregate at base Strathallan School.
