The founder
of our family, probably a MacNamara. We're decended from the Dal Cassian tribe of Thomond whose history in Co. Clare can be traced back 2000 years.
Now were spread like all the Irish all around the world. Find out where you came from
and much more. This Web page's purpose is to bring all the genealogy info on the
family to one place and give people a chanch to connect with their past.
I have some new source material for the history of the family from the 1600s as well as 1300s. New info from the 1600s. Also a story which is alledgedly "the" story of the origin of the name. I found a "fort of cu'moile that might be linked to us. This new stuff isn't found in any of the books explaining our familys origin
I began this project wondering about the name and if it were really Irish.
Was it Norman? or from the Vikings? Why have I never met another with my name?
I've answered these and found lots of new questions.
I've made contact somehow with almost 150 Normiles/Normoyles and their decendants all over the world. I found I am not the only one wondering about any of this.
I have been doing this research since about Jan 99.I'm now trying to find out were we originated and the origin of the Normys in Ireland. And still trying to find out where my gr grandpa Michael Normile was born. Its been narrowed down to Limerick. He died in a bar in Chicago in the early 1890s. My gr grandma fed up with his misbehavior told his bar pals to bury him themselves. They threw him in the river.
I have found quit a few time when I look at this web page that parts are sometimes missing for a time or disappear forever. Let me know if things are missing or screwed up after checking back after a few days.
I've started putting some new info on here and trying to organize better. Eugene Normoyle of NY is getting me a lot of new info and motivating me to get back to work.

Before asking me questions remember to include as much info as possible. I have gotten quit a few with only someones first and last name on it. Not even which country he lived in or what century he lived. If you wrote before ask again. I lost alot of info when I moved a ways back.
I'm planning on continuing this when I'm dead. This will hopefully make it easier for me to get info from our ancestors. I've instructed the brother John to paint two white feet on the floor of his shop for my ghost to stand on and put a sign on the wall that reminds me I'm dead. e-mail brother John at [email protected] when I'm dead to arrange any seances.
