My family knew almost nothing about our ancestors. What little we were told by my father and uncle we didn't believe. My uncle was very much like I am with a vivid immagination. His stories involved his grandfather being driven out of Ireland for "throwing stones" and how the mafia had plotted to murder him when they took over the bartenders union. So I was forced to collect all the info I could find, hoping somehow that would lead somewhere. It did, this web site.
I now have all the city directories copied and have afigured out how almost everyone i them is related to ea other. Most of the Normoyle in the dirs are at most cousins from newcastlewest. Some later arrivals in Chicago were from Ennis, and Co Clare just west of the Fergus and they came about the time those living in Ireland were changing the Norimle spelling to Normoyle as they did after moving here.
Another family was from Glin and maybe related to the first Normys to live in Chiago who seems to arrive inthe 1840s. I found one of this family living in a house that the Glin family had owned several years before and may have still owned as they were in the business of taking n borders in a big way
There were two Michael Normiles who apppear inthe 1871 directory. Both had been living in Wisconsin for a while. the Michael fro janesville at least 15 years. The other fro Milwaukee for ?. They were both stonecutters. This is a big coincidence I think. the Michael from Milwaukee I think had a cousin or brothr in Milwaukee who had been there from about 1855 as were the Normiles from 3 other places in Wisconsin
the Normys in Rock Island came in 1850 with later family coming up to the 1930s. There were several Normiles in the St Louis area as ealy as 1850s also. I can't tell if they were all the same family thought I believe one Thomas Francis Normile who wa married in green Bay in 1869 had a brother in St Louis that he lived wit in the 1870s befor emoving to Denver.
