Now by this time a couple of years had past and I was in San Francisco. The bike had a newer engine (3rd). The new one was a oil cooled 450. I had lowered the forks. I had split fire spark plugs. It was in the middle of a third spray can paint job.It had a solid aluminun rear wheel, which came from a '85 nighthawk. It had a bigger better sprocket which didn't twist off when I wheelied. Which happened at most green lights. That was my 5th wheel by the way.

At this point I was 26yrs old and nearly had the bike 2yrs. I had gone though a succesion of jobs and was finishing one that paid well. I had it in mind to head East with no particular place to go. I knew I wanted to head accross the country. So off I went via LA, San diego, then I ended up in a fork in the road in Arizona. I had a choice go north or east. I had the idea of going to colorado to work for the winter on a ski hill. Since it was the end of Oct. and starting to get too cold too ride there I opted to go east to meet a friend that I knew was in New Oreans.

On the PCH, south of San Francisco.
