For the most part, the cats of the Clans are not superstitious, but they do have their own religion. The Clans follow StarClan. StarClan is a Clan made up of all cats that have died throughout the ages. StarClan is located in the star group we know as the Milkyway. The Clans call it Silverpelt. When a cat needs advice, they go to the Medicine Cat, who is the eqivilant of a priest. He or she will tell them what StarClan has said, and they will often take the advice. StarClan also offers warnings to Medicine Cats, telling them of impending battle, death, and other things that could signal a death sentence for a Clan. StarClan generally only speaks to Medicine Cats, but they do, on a rare occasion, speak to regular cats within the Clans. The only other time that StarClan speaks to a cat that is not a Medicine Cat is when a Leader goes to Mothermouth and sleeps before the Moonstone to gain his or her nine lives. StarClan reveals secrets to them in their dreams and when they wake, they are wiser for it.

Burial is an important ceremony. When a cat dies, his or her body is lain and left overnight to allow the soul to leave the body before burial at sunrise. Those who were close to the departed spend a silent vigil at the side of the body and all of the Clan share tongues with him or her a final time before the sun sets. When the night is complete, the body is burried with the rising sun and the soul is believed to have travelled to Silverpelt and is considered one of StarClan. If the deceased was the Deputy, as sometimes happens, a new Deputy must be appointed before the setting of the sun the day the body is burried.
