# OPTIONS.TXT Roger Wilco Mark Ia
# July 26th 1999
#
# This file used to contain some infrequently-used parameters
# which modified the behavior of Roger Wilco. As of Mark Ia, it
# is no longer used by Roger Wilco. For reference, the Mark Ia
# installer backed up your OPTIONS.TXT file (if you were a Mark I user)
# in the Backup folder directly beneath the Roger Wilco installation folder
#
# In the rare case someone would have to modify these
# control settings, we have placed them in the registry where they
# can be manipulated using the regedit.exe program that is part of Windows.
#
# All these registry keys should be placed in
# HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Resounding\Roger Wilco
# if any do not exist there, Roger Wilco will apply the default values outlined below.

# Registry Value: mikeclickvolume
# default : 100
#
# Roger Wilco's Mike Click noise is adjustable by this. 100 is the default reading
# and one we feel works fine for most users. Some users, however, may find that this is
# too loud or too soft. They can choose other multipliers here (50 is half as loud,
# 200 is twice as loud, etc) to achieve the best balance between voice and mike clicks.

# Registry Value: gamedata_subscribe
# default : 1
#
# If you set this to 0, you can disable Roger Wilco's automatic updates of games.txt
# By default, your local games.txt file will receive periodic automatic additions
# for games we discover need entries in this file to work correctly.

# Registry Value: recorddelaymsecs
# default : 0
# this specifies a debouncing interval (in milliseconds) after a "key up" event
# before Roger Wilco's transmitter actually ends the transmission. If the key
# is pressed again before this interval elapses, the transmission will continue.
# It can be set to values of 100 or so if your joystick emulates keystrokes poorly
# (some generate momentary keyup/keydown pairs) so that everyone does not hear
# clicking. It is also helpful to set it to values as high as 300 if you use
# Voice Activated mode and you commonly see transmissions stop and restart while
# you are speaking.

# Registry Value: maxplayvolume
# default : 6
#
# YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO MODIFY THIS -- adjust the Speaker Volume slider on the
# Roger Wilco Adjust Tab before trying to adjust this.
#
# This is a multiplier that sets the range of Roger Wilco's speaker volume slider.
# 6 is a good value for this, but players of Fighter Ace may want to increase it
# to 8. That would make Roger Wilco's loudest volume that much louder, and help
# offset the bug that causes Fighter Ace's game volume slider to actually drive
# the system volume, negating its value in turning down the engine noises.
#
# Roger Wilco Mark Ia adjusted the Speaker Volume slider to increase its
# effectiveness at the highest setting, so please try adjusting that control
# before changing this value

# Registry Value: voicedetectrange
# default : 12
# This is a multiplier that sets the range of Roger Wilco's voice activation
# sensitivity slider.
# 12 is a good value for this. If you use Voice-Activated mode and your mike seems
# to trigger too easily even with the slider at the extreme left, try a larger
# value (up to 24).

# Registry Value: recordCPUboost
# default : 1
#
# YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO MODIFY THIS
#
# this allows you to specify an incremental processing priority boost
# for the portion of Roger Wilco that records and compresses audio.
# you might have to increase this to 2 or even 4 if others hear your transmissions
# with frequent gaps when you are playing a CPU-intensive game.
# To be sure that the problem is not on your partner's playthread, however,
# it is best to test with your friend at the desktop with you running the game
# while transmitting. That would ensure that your partner's CPU is concentrating
# on decompressing and playing your transmission.

# Registry Value: playCPUboost
# default : 2
#
# YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO MODIFY THIS
#
# this allows you to specify an incremental processing priority boost
# for the portion of Roger Wilco that decompresses and plays audio.
# You might have to increase this to 3 or even 5 if Roger Wilco cannot
# play incoming radio traffic when you are in a CPU-intensive game.
# To be sure that the problem is not on your partner's recordthread, however,
# it is best to test with your friend at the desktop before guessing that
# your Roger Wilco is having trouble keeping its playback up to speed.
