Okies, here's the thing with this wig:
I ordered the wig from Amphigory and mixed the dye. I was then cutting and styling it, when my apprentice's dog decided to tackle me by launching himself from a nearby chair. I fell forward, on top of the wig, scissors still in hand. After I got up and brushed off, I looked to see the damage done to the wig, and, to my horror, the impact had caused me to take a HUGE chunk off the back. Since too much was taken off to mend it, I immediately went to Amphigory, only to remember that their shipping takes a bit even with an overnight shipment, and I didn't have that time. As a final try, I went to the cosplay classifieds and searched for a curly wig that I could tease up to get Spike's hairstyle, and, to my most gracious surprise, I found one, and at a MUCH cheaper price. She even dyed it for me to take some stress off. I paid for it myself, since I felt like it was my fault that the original wig got ruined.
After receiving the wig, (only a week until AnimeFest mind you...) I proceeded to dye it. The person I purchased it from said the wig wouldn't dye correctly, so I was a liitle concerned. But, thankfully, my home-made wig dye did the trick. In fact, it worked so well, that I now use my own dye instead of purchasing dye from elsewhere. The top of the wig is a little brighter green than it should be as the fiber ws darker on the bottom half, but other than that the color is good.
The styling was easy, except that I forgot that MASSIVE amounts of hairspray can ruin a good dye job. Thankfully, the hairspray didn't ruin the dying.
The customer who bought originally was going to have it shipped to him, but ended up picking it up at AnimeFest. (I didn't attend, but my apprentice gave him the wig and a shipping refund for me since she went) He loved it! Which was great news for me, because it was my first non-personal wig styling.
Also, from this wig, I am now confident that I can make ANY color in the Anime Rainbow and I now offer custom coloring for wigs seperate from styling!!!
