| Charlotte Chottiner Charlotte Diana Chottiner, 85, a lifetime Clairton resident, died Monday, May 7, 2007, in Southwestern Nursing Center, Pleasant Hills. She was born May 1, 1922, in Clairton to the late Samuel and Minnie Spodek Chottiner and also was predeceased by brothers Louis and Jacob Chottiner. Miss Chottiner was a retired Clairton School District teacher with 34 years of service and a member of Gemilas Chesed Synagogue, White Oak. She had a master's degree in library science, was a Girl Scout leader in Clairton and was voted Clairton's Woman of the Year in 1999. Surviving are sister Sylvia Lampenfeld (Moe), of Clairton; nephews Myles and Gregg; nieces Judy, Dena, Marcia and Anita, and sisters-in-law Esther and Florence Chottiner. No viewing. A graveside service and burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Gemilas Chesed Cemetery, White Oak, with Rabbi Boaz Miller officiating. Elizabeth Township Formerly of Clairton Sylvia J. (Miskis) Dureka, 70, of Elizabeth Township, formerly of Clairton, died Monday, June 4, 2007. Beloved wife of the late Andrew. Loving mother of Donna (John) Thomas and Sharon (James) White. Sister of Alice Fine, Janet Caldas and Richard and Raymond Pastore. Devoted grandmother of John Wade Jr., Amber Marie and Michael Andrew Thomas and Ashley Marie and Kaitlyn Jean Thomas. Great-grandmother of Julia Nicolette Thomas. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME INC., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Michael Catholic Church, Elizabeth Township. Interment in Jefferson Memorial Park. |
| Gerald Keeney
Port Allegany Gerald Keeney, 69, of Katherine Street, Port Allegany, died Saturday, Oct.13, 2007, in Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport. Born Nov. 24, 1937, in Clairton, he was a son of Lloyd and Mary Alice Richie Keeney. He married Margaret J. Bengel, who survives. Mr. Keeney had been employed by Jeannette Glass Co. and General Tire and Rubber Co., both of Jeannette. He was most recently employed with Pittsburgh Corning Co., of Port Allegany, retiring in 2000, as personnel manager, with 20 years of service. He was a resident of the area since 1980, coming from Jeannette. He graduated from Clairton High School, Class of 1955. He attended West Virginia University, where he played football. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #460, Port Allegany, and a former member of the Port Allegany Rotary Club. After retiring, he was a driver for ATA and the Head Start Program, Port Allegany. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Margaret "Marge," are two sons, Patrick E. (Anne) Keeney, of Coudersport, and Gerald L. (Diane) Keeney, of Sheridan, Ind.; a daughter, Gail M. (Gerald) Bailey, of Coudersport; five grandchildren, Catherine Keeney, Patrick J. Keeney, Quinlan Bailey, Camden Bailey and Brenna Bailey, all of Coudersport; a brother, Ralph (Meg) Keeney, of West Mifflin; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the SWITZER FUNERAL HOME, Port Allegany, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Evon McJunkin officiating. Burial will be in St. Gabriel's Cemetery, Port Allegany. Memorials may be made to the Port Allegany Area United Fund. |
