"... the excellence of the writing and the sensitivity with which the author depicts his fully developed characters holds the reader spellbound. Isabel's Heresy is wonderfully paced, extremely well written and completely devoted to 'the mysterious paradox of pleasure and pain'. All in all, an incredible debut." Holly Hewson, The Romance Studio |
"Tadhg Muiris has created a Masterful story in Isabel's Heresy, rich in depth and breadth of description and characterization, whose plot is frightening, yet erotic. The twists and turns of this story reveal lust, betrayals and perversion. His heroes aren't perfect people; his villains are bad to the core. This is no tale for the faint of heart, since it deals with the Master-slave complex love relationships with stunning accuracy and detail. BDSM, bondage, domination, submission and masochism are woven throughout the story to tell of a Master's love and protection and the devotion of two women to Him who would serve Him faithfully through whatever befell." D. Elise Newman, Word Museum Reviews |
The grim shadow of the Spanish Inquisition has fallen over Isabel, a beautiful and intelligent young woman wrongfully accused of witchcraft. Finding an unlikely savior in the person of de Marisco, her implacable interrogator, she finds her troubles are far from over: her rescue from the stake is only the beginning of her descent into a world of slavery and sexual submission in which sinister forces relentlessly pursue her, peril and betrayal lurk at every turn, and she may have to pay the ultimate price for her devotion to the harsh Master to whom she owes her life. Excerpt |
Isabel, spread-eagled and gasping quietly on the cross, noticed the heavy studs of the cross making contact with the more salient features of her back her shoulder-blades and buttocks began to ache where the pressure of the studs met them, and she sought to shift her body in serpentine motions to relieve this discomfort. De Mariscos silent observation seemed to intensify at this; perhaps her struggles appeared lascivious to him. It then occurred to her that he must have observed many women in precisely this position, and understood full well the cause of her struggles. How many, she wondered, have been here before me? How many has he tortured and subsequently sent to their deaths? | Without a word, de Marisco walked back to the area of the room from which they had come and returned with a high stool and a lectern. Poking out of the crook of his arm she saw sheets of parchment and some quills. At the memory of the quill, she felt her nipples harden again, and realized it was not due to the cold the heat of the brazier, a few feet away, had already begun to raise a sheen of sweat on her ivory skin. She looked down at her breasts in astonishment and indignation, shocked at the treachery of her own body. With a sense of sadness she remembered that this was only the beginning of the betrayals her body was to inflict on her, betrayals that would almost certainly lead to her doom. | Copyright 2003 Tadhg Muiris
