2000 july 10a brief interlude of more than fifteen wordshi! how've you been? good, great, fab, glad to hear it. me? i've been busy. like insanely busy, not mildly busy. i don't have time for lunch busy. working at least 10 hours a day busy. forgetting what day of the week it is since i don't have a proper weekend busy. i hate it. there was a small glimmer of what appeared to be a light at the end of the tunnel, but someone snuffed it out and now the tunnel is long and dark and somewhat lonely. i barely see gene at all; if we're lucky we connect on the back veranda for a cigarette right before i head to bed to sleep fitfully for a few hours. i love my new job, i really do, but it hasn't exactly been as advertised. the really cool project i am working on is high prestige and even higher pressure. you know that commercial where the cowboys are herding cats? that's my life. herding developers and managers and clients and hardware and software and telephone calls and emails and status meetings and cases of diet coke into what will eventually be a standout and landmark device. at least i hope it will, i'd hate to be burning out over the next pet rock.
