redecorating

gene and i have been on a bit of a decorating tear.

i think it is just an extension of the whole spring cleaning thing. it is much easier to get rid of things, have giant throwing away moments, than it is to clean them up. i hate dusting so half the knick-knacks were thrown out and half of them boxed up. with the mantle so clean and uncluttered, we felt the need to finally shelve the cds. with the cds in their place, the couch looked bare so we bought new pillows. with pillows on the couch, the old coffee table looked cheap so we found a new one in an exotic rusty orange colour.

of course all that neatness and newness lasted about an hour and now the new exotic coffee table is covered in mundane magazines and clipped coupons and a kleenex box. nothing like a kleenex box to knock you back down to messy middleclassness.
