either/or

in the series of obsessions that comprise my life, i have a new entry: elliot smith's either/or.

i've had the bloody cd for ages but suddenly out of the blue it is just about the only thing i will listen to. well, that and the new michael penn. i appear to be in the midst of another singer/songwriter of the boy variety phase. rather nice as i was tiring of the angst filled white chick phase i had been in for the last half of last year.

someone's always coming round here trailing some new kill
says I seen your picture on a hundred dollar bill
and what's a game of chance to you, to him is one of real skill
so glad to meet you
angeles
picking up the ticket shows there's money to be made
go on and lose the gamble that's the history of the trade
you add up all the cards left to play to zero
and sign up with evil
angeles
don't start me trying now
'cos I'm all over it
angeles
I could make you satisfied in everything you do
all your 'secret wishes' could right now be coming true
and be forever with my poison arms around you
no-one's gonna fool around with us
no-one's gonna fool around with us
so glad to meet you

i have no idea what this song is really about. and i don't know why he capitalizes all the i's and i'ms but nothing else. must be an ego thing. now me, i make the whole world lower case, equality amongst the words.

don't try and tell me that paris is more important than chair, especially when my feet hurt.

little i's have round heads, big i's are flat, claire
