every year i buy a poinsettia and every year i manage to keep the thing alive until the next year, and even beyond. tragically, we had a late hard frost this spring and i had already put all the previous years' poinsettia bushes on the back porch where they froze and slowly died over the course of a week or two. i cried. okay, i didn't, but i thought about it.

this little guy will have to carry the new century all by himself.
