The music stopped, but they kept on dancing wrapped in each other's embrace. It was as if they danced on little clouds, taking them high above the park to the shining stars. She woke up with a feeling that someone was watching her, and Shane smiled at her as she opened her eyes. "Good morning, Heather," he said, kissing her. "Good morning to you too." She turned and looked at the clock on her nightstand, a huge smile on her face. The phone rang and she reached for the one by her bed, but Shane got there first. "Hello?" he said, smiling and winking at her. "Erm, hi... Who's this?" Heather sat with her head next to Shane's and listened. She recognised the voice; it was Kate. "Hi, this is Shane. And you are?" he said as if it was the most obvious thing in the whole world. "Eh, Kate," she said, and Heather smiled. "Oh! Hi Kate! How are ya? You wanna talk to Heather?" Shane smiled. "Yes, please. I would." Shane held the phone away from his ear, "Honey! Phone call for you, it's Kate." he said, handing the receiver out to her. "Thank you," Heather said and smiled. "Hi Kate!" "Oh. My. God. I take it your date went well!" Kate said, her voice excited. "Yes, it was so great. He took me to one of the arbours in the park and we had dinner, and he has made a song for me! It's so beautiful, and he sings it equally beautiful!" she gushed, and Shane kissed her neck. Heather looked at him, and he signalled that he went into the kitchen. She nodded, and he kissed her before he went out. "Heather, you vixen you!" Kate laughed. "Oh, shut up Kate!" she said blushing slightly. "Ok, ok! Anyways I was calling to hear whether you wanted to come shopping with us today, but I guess you're kinda busy," Kate teased. "Could you hold on a sec?" Heather asked, looking at Shane standing in the door. "Sure." He smiled at her, "What is it?" he asked. "Kate wanted to know whether I wanted to come shopping with her and Donna today, and I just thought maybe you'd like to come." she said, holding one hand over the receiver. "Yeah sure, I'd love to. I need some stuff too. And as long as I'm with you, it doesn't matter where I am." Shane sat down beside her on the bed, and softly kissed her cheek. Heather smiled at him, and removed her hand from the receiver. "Awwww! He's really sweet, Heather!" Kate said, and Heather smiled as Shane rested his head on her shoulder. "I know! Well, he said he'd love to come with us, if that's okay by you and Donna." she said, and she could swear she heard Kate roll her eyes on the other end. "Well, doh!! 'Course it's okay, silly! We're meeting outside that restaurant What's its name again? You know which one I mean, we were there last Saturday. The one with that musical name, erm" "Sunset Boulevard?" Shane whispered. "Sunset Boulevard, is that the one you're thinking about?" Heather asked. "Yes! Thank you! We're meeting outside that one at 1. Sounds okay?" "Sounds great. See you then!" Heather said smiling. "Cool! Bye!" Kate said, and they hung up. "Thanks Shane." Heather kissed his forehead. "You're welcome, but I'm really the one who should thank you." he said, lifting his head from her shoulder and looking into her eyes. "Oh, why?" she asked, her voice close to a whisper. "For being who you are, and for being with me." he said, his eyes not moving from hers. Heather looked into his eyes, and suddenly she understood what they had been trying to tell her. She smiled and stroked his cheek. He hugged her, and held her close. "I love you, Heather. Always have, always will." he whispered in her ear, and she smiled when he confirmed what his eyes had told her. "I love you too, Shane." she whispered back, her heart skipping a beat as he softly started singing to her. "'Cause it's all, it's all in the way you look through your eyes. And when all is said and done, all of the fear and all of the lies are not hard to overcome. It's all in the way you look at it that makes you strong. We were two, now we are one." Heather stood in front of the mirror in the hall, checking that everything was ok. She found her purse, and locked the door behind her. Outside, her parents were waiting in the car. "Oh, you look so beautiful, Heather!" her mum said, hugging her daughter. "That's my little princess for ya!" her dad smiled. "Dad! Come on now, or I'll be late." They all got in and drove off to the college. The schoolyard was filling up with excited graduates and their families. Heather got out of the car, and was met by Donna and Kate. "You look stunning, Heather!" Donna said, hugging her. "Yeah, you look fabulous!" Kate agreed. "Thanks. You both look wonderful!" she said, as they left their parents and headed in to the gymnasium. It was already filling up, and soon it was full. Heather looked around, but couldn't seem to find Shane. "Donna, have you seen Shane?" she whispered. "No, but don't worry. He'll be here." she whispered back, and smiled. "What do you mean?" Heather whispered, but Donna just smiled. "Donna! I wanna" she started. Their class was next, and they all got up. One by one they were called up, and got their diplomas. After they had all got their diplomas, they walked back to their seats. Then they called up Shane's class, they were the last one and Heather didn't see Shane anywhere. His name wasn't even called. She looked around nervously. Donna placed one hand over hers, and smiled at her. "Don't worry Heather. He's here," she whispered, and tilted her head in the direction of the stage. The curtain was closed, and the principal smiled at them. "And now we've got a musical treat for you. It's one of our very own students, singing a song he's written himself. Playing with him for one last time is the college band, here he is; Shane Filan!" Heather opened her eyes wide, and stared at the stage. The curtains were drawn back, and revealed Shane sitting on a stool. The audience applauded him, and he smiled. "This is a song I've written myself, and it's for one very special girl. Her name is Heather," he started. "Get up and wave at them, Heather!" he said, and smiled at her. She slowly got up from her chair and waved, then she sat down again. "Isn't she beautiful?" Shane asked, and the crowd cheered. "This song is for my girlfriend, Heather." he said, and the band started playing. As Shane's voice sounded out over the overcrowded gymnasium, Heather had chills running down her back and tears glittered in her eyes like they had the first time she'd heard the song. "Two very different people Too scared to get along Till two hearts beat together Underneath one sun One very special moment Can turn a destiny And what some would say Could never change Has changed for you and me 'Cause it's all, it's all in the way you look though your eyes And when all is said and done All of the fear and all of the lies Are not hard to overcome It's all in the way you look at it That makes you strong We were two Now we are one We are two very different people So much to overcome So why care for one another When there's so much to be done 'Cause sometimes it's necessary Just look how far we've come You could say my friend that It's the end Or a new tale has begun 'Cause it's all, it's all in the way you look though your eyes And when all is said and done All of the fear and all of the lies Are not hard to overcome It's all in the way you look at it That makes you strong We were two Now we are one And one moment in time Is all the time we need Just to make a difference To make it better for you and me If you just believe Oh yeah Just open your eyes 'Cause it's all, it's all in the way you look though your eyes And when all is said and done All of the fear and all of the lies Are not hard to overcome It's all in the way you look at it That makes you strong We were two Now we are one Oh yeah, oh yeah We were two Now we are one." The song ended and the crowd was completely quiet for a moment, then the entire gymnasium broke out in applause. As they all got up and gave him a standing ovation, tears ran down Heather's cheeks. Shane blew her a kiss, and bowed. "Thank you!" he said and smiled at her. The gymnasium started emptying, and Heather stood with tears slowly making their way down her cheeks. Shane came out from the stage door and ran over to her, his arms held out. She smiled and held her own arms out, and he lifted her up from the floor and kissed her. "Hey honey. You look absolutely stunning!" he said, and dried her tears. "Thank you, you look very handsome too." she smiled at him. "Did you like the song?" he asked. "What do you think?" Heather said, pointing to her face. "I loved it, Shane. It was so beautiful!" He smiled, and she saw that he blushed slightly. "That's good, angel. I love you, Heather." he said and held her face in his hands, looking into her eyes with the deepest sincerity. "And I love you, Shane." He smiled and kissed her with all the love and passion he owned for this beautiful girl that was his, and only his. 18 months later he kissed her with that same love and passion as he had the day of their graduation, but now it was different. He kissed her with all the love and passion he owned for this beautiful girl that was his wife, and their guests applauded. It was the wedding of Heather and Shane's dreams, because they married each other. They said goodbye, and got into the limousine. "Bye! Have a nice trip!" "Thank you, and we will!" Shane said, and closed the door. The limousine pulled out of the parking lot, and took them to the airport. A few hours later they stood outside their hotel room in Paris, waiting for the piccolo to come up with their bags. "This is just so wonderful!" Heather smiled at Shane as the piccolo walked past them, and put their bags in their room. "Have a nice stay, Mr. and Mrs. Filan!" he said, and smiled. "I can't believe he just called me that! Mrs. Filan!" Heather said, smiling happily. Shane kissed her, and lifted her up in his arms. "Well," he said as he elegantly closed the door behind them with his foot. "You'll just have to get used to it, Mrs. Filan!" he said, and lay her down on the bed. "I guess I will then, Mr. Filan." she said, and kissed him. "Oh, before I forget. I've got something for you, honey." Shane said, reaching into his pocket. "What can you possibly give me now? I've got everything I've ever dreamed of." Heather said, and Shane smiled at her. "This." he said, and gave her the box he'd taken out of his pocket. She opened it, and inside was a necklace with a heart in gold. "Oh, Shane. It's gorgeous!" she gasped as she took it out of the box and let it dangle from her fingers. The heart caught the sun's last rays and it shone beautifully. Shane sat down behind her on the bed, and slipped his arms around her waist. "Read the inscription," he said. Heather took the little heart between her fingers, and read the inscription aloud. "We are one, S & H." Shane reached out and turned it around, and she saw that he'd got the date of their first date inscribed on the back. "It's so beautiful. Thank you, Shane. I love it, and I love you." she said, and smiled. "You're very welcome, honey. And I love you too." he said, and kissed her neck. "Help me?" she asked, and he took the necklace and carefully hung it around her neck. "Thank you," she whispered as he kissed her neck. Shane didn't say anything; he just kept kissing her and slowly unzipped her dress. Heather closed her eyes, and knew that she was in heaven. The gold heart around her neck glittered in the suns dying rays, and three little words floated in the warm spring air. We are one
