| Shane stared out of the aeroplane window, and sighed. "Come on, this is our big break, I'm telling ya!" Kian was grinning, contemplating the American break. "Yeah, I think they'll like us." "Don't know about liking you Filan, but I'll have them eating out of my hand." He laughed again. "Geez, Shane, would ya cheer up?" He was shaken out of his thoughts . "Sorry Ki, million miles away there." He smiled lightly. Kian looked at his friend, puzzled, this was the biggest thing for the band, and he seemed distracted. "Is Shane ok?" Mark had noticed this too, and was concerned. "Yeah, he's just miles away." Kian answered still staring at Shane. "God, I thought he was over all that." Mark muttered. "Maybe not." Shane continued to stare out of the window for most of the rest of the flight. The plane landed and Shane grabbed his bag, and left to go through the airport, without waiting for the rest of the guys. "Something we said?" Bryan asked, confused, this wasn't like Shane. "I don't think so mate, he's just a little out of it, probable nerves with this whole tour thing, wouldn't worry too much." Kian answered, running on ahead to catch up with Shane. "Ok then." Bryan seemed happy at this explanation. Mark and Bryan just watched as Ki caught up and tried to talk to Shane. "Look, Shane, correct me if I'm way off track here, but I thought you were over her. Man, you guys split up like 3 years ago." Shane drew him a look, then surrendered. "I know that Ki." "Are you hoping that you're going to bump into her over here?" Shane looked up. "Well, she did move to New York, last I heard she was doing freelance interviewing work for some magazine...." Kian rolled his eyes. "Well, there's always a chance, isn't there?" "Look, Shane, chances are we won't see her. She left Sligo 3 years ago, she's probably dating some american by now! For all you know she could be happily married! Now come on, I want to get some sleep before we hit the town tonight." Shane sighed, and follwed Ki and the others out of the airport. "So, are we all looking forward to going out tonight, check out the local talent?" Mark asked, excitedly. "No, gonna make some calls." Nicky said. "I think we know who to." Kian added, with a laugh. "Bryan, you'll be up for it, won't you?" Mark asked, with a begging look. "Umm, well, I;'m kinda tired after the flight guys."he started. "And you wanna make a certain phonecall too..." Mark added, while Bryan blushed a little. Kian and Shane both rolled their eyes, Bryan was well trained now, he would live to regret it if he didn't call home. "K, looks like it's us just us three then." Mark said, a little disappointed, but excited too, new city, new adventure. They reached their hotel and all diappeared to their separate rooms to get changed. A few hours later, Shane, Mark and Kian were ready to hit the town. "Ok, where to?" Mark asked, standing at the doors to the hotel. "Umm, we don't really know much about New York do we?" Kian said, looking around. "Well, umm, how bout ummm, dammit what's the name of that place?" Shane frowned, "oh right, Mixers." "Mixers, which would be what exactly?" Mark asked, puzzled. "A club, Holly used to talk about it when she called, it's supposed to be really good." "That sounds ok to me." Kian nodded in agreement and follwed Shane as he flagged a cab for them. They arrived outside the club and stood staringat it for a few minutes. "It's pretty big, huh?" "Yeah, and loud too, I think I'm going to like this!" They all wandered inside. "Wow! Holly's got good taste." Mark commented while staring all around the interior. "Yeah." "Look, Shane, not wanting to seem unsympathetic about your moping over something that was over ages ago..." Mark started, "but we're here to have fun. If you bump into her, fair enough, but don't let the fact that you MIGHT see her ruin your trip. Now what are we all having to drink?" "Pint." Kian and Shane answered together. "Geez, adventurous, aren't we?" Mark muttered and wandered towards the bar. He returned with two pints and a strange blue concoction in his glass with umbrellas in it. "What in the name of God is that?" Kian stared at the drink, frowning. "Well, it's a " mark struggled to remember, "some thing blue, obviously. It's called a-" "It's funny looking, what's it like?" Mark sipped it and spat it out. "Tastes funny too." Shane laughed. "Back in a second guys, I need a pint." And he disappeared again, only to remain chatting at the bar with a girl. "Geez, fast worker, ain't he?" Kian commented, "beback in a second." And he headed off in the direction of the bathroom. Shane found a seat and sat down, quietly observing the people in the club. Pathetic guys who thought that they were cool, cool guys who were cool and knew it, couples and singles. He sighed heavily, remembering when he and Holly were together. Just then, a familiar looking person swept by his table, he looked at the short blond hair. It couldn't be could it? "Holly!" Shane called out, following her. She turned around. |
