"This is the living room - just make yourself comfy while I go and have a shower, and change out of these clothes okay? I won't be long.".....you can put the T.V on if you like....remote's normally down the side of the sofa!"
"Thanks."
I wandered in to Mikes living room, and was astoished - it was so tidy, and clean. Everything had it's place. It was quite a modern style house he lived in - it hadn't looked like it from the outside, but inside it was very modern. It was nice, and different. I wandered around the room, studying everything - his leather suite, tv, and then my eyes were drawn to his sound-system - it was huge, looked new. I walked over, and fumbled through his collection f CD's, stacked neatly in a pile beside it. Mike seemed to be into much the same music as I was - his taste varied from rock, to pop, to hiphop.....everything really.
"Is it okay if I put a CD on?" I called to him, on his way upstairs.
I wasn't sure if Mike would hear me but, he did:
"Yeah, sure - help yourself. I won't be long."
I chose a CD, and put it on. I then went and sat down on the sofa, waiting for dinner, and Mike to come downstairs. I took off my jacket, and draped it over the side of the sofa. Mikes house was somehow relaxing. It was new surroundings, so I wasn't constantly reminded of things in the past.
Eventually, after about 10 minutes, Mike came through. He looked a lot cleaner than he had done earlier. He was wearing dark blue jeans, and a light blue shirt. His blonde hair was wet, and combed back, in a parting.
"Sorry about that, but dinner is ready. I left it cooking, whilst I was in the shower, so it would be ready when I came down stairs."
"Good thinking! - was just listening to this CD, it's pretty good you know."
He smiled, showing his white teeth.
"Yeah - it's one of my favourites actually! Anyway, come through to the kitchen - dinner's on the table, and is getting colder by the minute!"
I got up, and followed Mike through to his equally modern, but not so tidy kitchen, and sat down. The meal did smell lovely - I could tell he was a good cook.
"This really is a nice place you have here - really modern and well kept."
"Thanks - I love it. I love having my own space. Sorry, what would you like to drink - theres wine, coke, fanta....."
"Umm - a coke will be okay thanks! Yeah, must be great to have your own place."
"It is - you only realise that when you leave home."
Mike poured us a glass of coke each, and sat down. I nodded in agreement, and ate some more of my dinner. We finished dinner rather quickly, as we were both hungry.
"Well Mike, that was gorgeous - I didn't realise how hungry I was, but like I said - the bolognaise was lovely."
Mike smiled, appreciating my compliment.
"Good - glad you liked it! I try!"
"I wish when I tried it would turn out that nice!"
I smiled at him, as he got up from the table.
"Be with you in just a moment - just tidy these dishes away."
"Okay."
I took a sip of coke, and watched as Mike skillfully balanced the 2 dinner plates on one arm, whilst carrying the spaghetti dish in the other. I got up, and wandered through to the living room, and sat down, waiting for Mike to join me, after tidying up.
"There, that's the kitchen tidy."
He came through, and sat down beside me.
"You like keeping everything tidy don't you!?"
I turned, and looked to Mike.
"Yeah - I just like everything to be ship-shape. I hate mess, and clutter, as you can probably tell."
"I had kinda gathered that, yes!"
"So, what do you want to do now - it's approaching 6 o' clock."
"Dont' know - anything on television?"
"Let's have a look."
He retrieved the remote control from down the side of the couch, and turned on the TV, channel flicking, to see what was actually on. He found a film eventually, and we decided to watch that.
"The Mummy - looks okay I guess - I like scary movies!"
"Yeah Charlotte, so do I. I like a good old thriller - one that keeps you on the edge of your seat! Hate all of that romantic rubbish - don't have time for any of that."
"Yeah, same here - prefer scary films to roomantic ones.  Remember though. I'll have to go after that though, can't stay out here late."
"That's alright - I'll give you a lift home."
"I can walk - it's okay you know."
"Look, you'll get home quicker, and it'll only take me a couple of minutes max - I'll drive you home."
"Well, if you're sure?"
"Yes."
"Thanks Mike." He grinned, pleased he could be of assistance.
Then we turned to the telly, and began watching the film. It looked quite good, and we both liked thrillers. I settled down, pleased about being at Mikes - it made a pleasant change to be somewhere other than Amy's or home. I expected it to be a good evening.
