"It's awfully quiet without Niamh now isn't it Charlotte?!" Nicky said, putting his arms around me. Nicky and I were in his bedroom, where the embarrassing incident with Niamh happened.
"Yeah, it is.........still, she'll be back soon." I smiled up at Nicky, he returned my smile, hugging me even tighter.
"I can't believe her flight for Dublin left at 6am this morning - I would never have been able to get up that early!!"
"Yeah, tell me about it........still, it was the only flight!"
I suddenly began to laugh, seeing Nicky looking very puzzled, but with a huge grin on his face.
"What is it?" His blue eyes glinted at me, as he asked the question.
"It's just that incident when Niamh walked in on us........it was so funny - I just keep seeing the look on her face, poor girl - she didn't know where to put herself!"
Nicky began to laugh too, his irish laugh was lovely - perfect just like Nicky. "Yeah Charlotte, it was funny - at least she'll always knock in future." "True, that's very true!"
We both laughed, and were then interrupted by Nicky's downstairs phone ringing. As the house was empty, Nicky leapt up to answer it. He had to reach the phone, before it had rang 3 times, or else it would go on to the answer machine. About 10 minutes later, Nicky returned. "Who was that?" "Jessica." "Jessica? What was she calling for?"
"She said she called your house, but your mother said you were at mine, and gave her the number. We've been invited out tomorrow night, out to the club - herself and Nick are going, and so are Amy and Mark so I said we'd go........but I can phone back if you don't want to...." "No, should be good - we'll go!" "Good - I thought it sounded good myself, it's kind of like a triple date if you like!"
"Yeah, suppose it is. I'll need to sort out something to wear."
"You'll find something - your wardrobe is huge!" Nicky gave a cheeky grin. "Plus, it'll be a way to celebrate our 6 month anniversary wont it?!"
"Oh yeah - our anniversary - It totally slipped my mind, that's right! It's tomorrow isn't it!"
"Yes Charlotte, it is! I can hardly believe it, can you? Time has flew past, but it's been the best 6 months of my life. I'm so glad I met a girl like you -you're very special to me Charlotte, and I never want to lose you.......ever."
Nicky grasped my hand, and I smiled back. I could hardly believe it myself - 6 whole months. I loved Nicky so much, we were so close. He was so special to me, and I knew he cared a lot about me too.
"I love you Nicky, and never want to lose you either."
"I love you too Charlotte." Nicky smiled once more, as he leant towards me.
We kissed, softly. Nicky held me tight in his arms, and I felt safe. When we eventually stopped kissing, I saw Nicky smile at me - his smile was warm, and loving. As I stared at Nicky, and thought of our 6 months together, I could honestly say those 6 months had also been the best months of my life - I'd found the ideal man, and was in a relationship with him - he was perfect in everyway, and I never wanted to lose him either. I loved Nicky so much, and knew that as long as we were together, our lives would be complete.
CHAPTER EIGHTEEN - TIME OUT
I spent the rest of the afternoon looking out something appropriate to wear, for our evening out with Amy and Jessica. Nicky didn't help though, as everytime I asked him if a certain piece of clothing suited me, he said I looked "gorgeous in everything." I didn't mind though - that was the sweet, kind side of Nicky that Ioved so much. Eventually, I decided on a little black dress, and my new shoes - I hadn't wore the shoes before, as I'd never really had an occasion to wear them. Nicky told me he'd call around for me at 7pm, and then we would meet the others at the club itself. The club wasn't far away - about a 10 minute bus journey. I was really looking forward to our night out - I hadn't been out clubbing in a while. The following morning, I woke with a smile. Not only was the sun shining, but it was our 6 month anniversary, and I was so happy. I got up, and made my way down stairs, singing, to make breakfast. Just as I had finished my cereal, the phone rang. I glanced at the clock as I went to answer it - it was 11am, so I guessed it would probably be Nicky. My guess was right. "Hiya Charlotte - how are you?" "Hi Nicky, I'm just great, you?"
"Well, I'm just fine - I mean, who wouldn't be on their 6 month anniversary with the most beautiful girl in the world!"
"Awwww, Nicky - you remembered - thank you." "So, been up long then?"
"Nah, not really, bet you got up early though?" "Oh yes, my little brother woke me up with his television on too loud!"
"Ha ha - well, it looks like my house is empty - my mother doesn't seem to be in." "Really.........."
"Don't even think about it Nicky - I've got things to do, afterall, I won't get a chance to do them later, because we'll be out won't we!"
"True, very true - okay, well, I've got to go anyway. I've got football training with the lads." "Okay, well, enjoy yourself! Get scoring those goals!" "Yeah, will do! Happy anniversary Charlotte."
"Happy anniversary Nicky - remember - 7pm, don't forget!"
"As if I would!Bye, love you." "Love you too."
With that I hung up, and went upstairs. The day passed quickly - I tidied my room, checked my e-mails, and replied to the one's that were important, I tidied the house for Mum, and did the hoovering. By the time I'd finished all of those things, it was 4.30pm - time to get ready. I had a shower, and got changed, before doing my hair and make-up. I was ready half an hour early, so I watched television until NIcky called around. The doorbell rang at 7pm sharp.
"Hiya Charlotte", Nicky said, giving me a huge hug, and a kiss.
I could smell Nicky's aftershave - it was my favourite one. "Happy 6 month anniversary!"
I hugged him back, "Happy 6 month anniversary."
"Wow Charlotte, you look gorgeous!" Nicky kissed me again, smiling with delight.
"So do you Nicky!" I said, looking at him - he was wearing a dark blue shirt, the shirt I thought really suited him, and dark trousers - smart, but casual. He looked really nice, and it was obvious he's made a real effort. His blonde hair was gelled back.
"Why thank you!" "C'mon then - we'd better go hadn't we!"
We made our way to the bus stop, and caught the bus. It took us 10 minutes to get to the club, where we saw Amy, Jessica, Mark, and Nick waiting. We were greeted with smiles. "Hi you two" Amy said, giving me a hug. "Hi - hope you haven't been waiting long?"
"No, just got here." "It's our 6 month anniversary." Nicky added.
"Really, wow!" Amy smiled, "Mark and I have been going out for nearly that long too!"
I just grinned, and turned to Nicky. After chatting for a few minutes, we all went in to the club. Nicky seemed to hit it off with Nick and Mark, even though they'd only met once before. We all hit the dance floor straight away. The music was booming. Nicky came over to me, put his arms around me, and kissed me. Nicky arms remained around my waist for most of that night infact. At the club, I noticed a few girls staring at Nicky, so I kept on kissing him, to give them the message that he was my boyfriend. We barely stopped for a drink, we all danced constantly. The club was really good. The group of us stayed there until 11pm, when Amy and co. had to go home - they had work the following morning, and didn't want to be tired out the next day. Nicky and I decided to make our way home then too. We all said our goodbyes, and parted. Nicky and I had to walk home, as the last bus was past. We didn't mind though, as it was a beatiful night, and not really that far to walk - we knew short cuts home.
"Was a good night Charlotte."
"Yeah Nicky, it was." I turned to Nicky, as we walked - his eyes twinkled in the moonlight. I held his hand, as we walked along the road. The roads were quiet, not much traffic used these roads at this time of night.
"You know I love you Charlotte don't you." "Yes, I think that's just about sunk in to my head now! I love you too."
As I said that, Nicky's hand grasped my hand tightly. Nicky tried to pull me towards him, but I pulled away, teasing him: "You want to kiss me, you have to catch me first!" I began to laugh cheekily, as I began to run across the road, still with my eyes on Nicky, waiting for him to run after me.
"C'mon Nicky - aren't you going to try and catch me."
I turned around, and began to slowly make my way across the road, gesturing for Nicky to follow.
As I was half way across, I heard Nicky shout - he was still over the otherside of the road. "Charlotte, Charlotte!"
"C'mon then Nicky!" I laughed, expecting him to grab hold of me at any moment.
His calling became louder and louder, and more frequent. "Charlotte, watch out!"
As I turned around to look at Nicky, I heard music - the music was getting louder and louder. Then I saw car lights - a car was speeding towards me. I panicked, froze to the spot. I couldn't move with fear. The car was comming closer to me. I tried to move but everything happened so fast. Suddenly I heard Nicky shout "Charlotte" and I felt myself being pushed out of the way of the speeding car. As I fell on the pavement, and hit my head, I heard the sound of car breaks screeching. I slowly lifted my head up from the pavement, and turned my head towards the car. The red car had halted in the road, and the dirvers were sitting still in the car. My head was bleeding, and my legs and arms were badly grazed.
"Nicky!" A horrible feeling then came over me. "Nicky?" I began to shout frantically, looking about me, trying to see him. My calls for Nicky turned in to shouting, and my shouting became louder and louder. "Nicky? Nicky? Where are you? Nicky?" By this time I was hystrical - where was Nicky? Why wasn't he answering my calls?" I was aching. By this time I knew something was wrong. Nicky was no where in sight, as I shouted and shouted.
