...shane...
I sat in the hospital cafe with a cup of coffee. I couldn't help but think that it was my fault that Ally was so sick, maybe I had done something wrong. I sat there, thinking and staring at my cup, then I heard someone saying my name. I looked up and saw Ally standing in front of me with the baby. "Can I sit down?" She asked. "Sure!" I said, and got her a chair. She sat down beside me.
"Why are you sitting here by yourself?"she asked, I looked back at my cup. "I was just thinking about stuff," I said, "how are you now?" "I'm fine, thanks so much for everything! You were great!" She answered. "I don't think so...." I said, quietly. "Well, I think so!" Ally said, "he thinks so too." She said smiling down at the baby, "but he can't talk yet, so he said I was to say thanks from him too." She laughed, but I couldn't.
"Why are you thanking me? I almost killed you!" I replied, Ally just sat there, shocked. "No, the opposite, if you weren't there, we could both have died!" She said, "So, stop thinking that it was your fault!"I looked up, and saw her smiling at me. Just then, the baby woke up and yawned."Awww, he's so cute!" I said, watching him. "Has the little guy got a name yet?" I asked her, and smiled when I saw he was looking up at me. "Well, yeah!" She said, looking as if she was bursting to tell me "It's Dylan Shane!" "Dylan Shane?" I asked. "Yeah, hope you don't mind, but we called him after you, well his middle name at least." "Of course I don't mind!" I answered. "Why don't we go back to find the others." I suggested. Ally looked tired and I didn't think she should've been out of bed.
"Can I ask you something Shane?" She asked, as we walked back along. "Sure." "Have Bryan's parents been at the hospital yet?" I knew why she was asking, she'd been worried that they wouldn't accept Dylan as Bryan had. I couldn't lie to her and say that they had been at the hospital, when the truth was they hadn't been near. "Umm, no." I said, she looked down at Dylan, who was still awake, and smiling at us both. "I knew this would happen." She whispered. "It's not like that." I said, putting my arm around her. "It's not his fault that Bryan's not his dad!" She said, nearly shouting.
"Look, they probably wanted to wait until you were better, they'll probably show up tonight." I said, hoping they would. "Maybe they're trying to find a good present for him." "Sure." She said, unconvinced. "Hey, u wanna carry him for a while?" She asked. "Ummm - I don't know, he's so small...." I started. "You're not going to break him, just by holding him!" She laughed. "You trust me with him?" I asked, she nodded and we walked back along to her room.
"Hey." Bryan said, "you found him then?" "Yeah" Ally answered and yawned. "You get back into bed!" Bryan ordered her. "Ok ok!" She answered and got in. "Where's everybody else?" "I sent them home now that you're ok." Bryan answered. "Oh, ok." "I better go too." I said, and stood up to hand Dylan back to Bryan. "No, it's ok." Ally said, but I could tell that she needed some sleep. "I'll see you guys later, ok?" I said, but Ally was already asleep. Bryan waved goodbye at me and then went back to playing with the baby. I left them, wishing that one day I'd be happy like that too.

...bryan...
I sat there playing with Dylan for a while until he fell asleep, then decided to put him back in his cot. I watched them both sleeping for a while, I still couldn't believe the way things had worked out, if you would have told me a year ago that I would have a steady girlfriend and a baby right now, I would've laughed at you. But, still, it had happened and here I was with a baby. I had called mum and dad to let them know that they had a grandson, and sure they seemed happy about it on the phone, and seemed really worried about Ally when I told them how sick she was, but still they hadn't been to visit. I called them to let them know that Ally was ok now, and that the others had gone away from the hospital, in case that was why they hadn't been visiting.
I decided to go home and get changed, I hadn't been home since the baby was born, so I thought I'd pick some stuff up for him and Ally while I was there. I got something to eat when I got home and picked up some clothes for Ally and Dylan too, because they were allowed home tomorrow afternoon. I still had some things to get before they came home, like a car seat, but I could get one tomorrow. I decided to head back to the hospital at 6pm, because Dylan would be needing his bottle and I didn't know if Ally would have been awake by then. I got there, and walked in to see her feeding him his bottle. "Hey, you two!" I said as I walked in. "Hey!" She said, looking over at me, "Come on in!" "How's everything going?" I asked, as I sat down beside them. "Good, but I can't believe how much he's drinking!" We both laughed as we watched him gulp his bottle.
"So, what stuff did you bring?" She asked, so I put the bag I had on the chair next to me. "Lots of stuff!" I grinned, "I stopped by the office, some fans had dropped off little presents for him." I showed her the teddies and baby clothes we had received. "Awwww! We'll need to say thanks for all the stuff!" Ally said. "I can't wait to get home tomorrow, I want to get settled back in again. Do we have everything ready for him coming home?" "Yeah, just got to get a car seat for him, but I can get that tomorrow." I answered her. "And, you'll need to pick up the pushchair too?" She asked, as Dylan finished his bottle. "God, yeah, nearly forgot! It's been a weird couple of days!" I laughed. "Here, you take him now." She said, handing him to me.
"Ummm, did you call your parents?" "Yeah, I let them know that you're doing ok now." "Oh, ok. What did they say?" "Umm...they're glad that you're ok, and asked how Dylan was too." I said. I knew she was worried that they were having problems accepting him. We sat there for a while looking through some of the gifts from the fans, when I heard a familiar voice behind me. "Where's my boy?" It was mum, and we both breathed a sigh of relief. "I'm right here!" I said laughing. "Not you!" She laughed, walking over to get a closer look at the baby. "I'm talking about this little angel here. How is he?" "He's great! Just finished his dinner!" I said, "haven't you?" I said to him, but he just gurgled and smiled up at mum."is Dad here?" I asked her. "He's in the car." I looked over at Ally, who just sighed. "I thought he was ok with this" I said, just then he appeared behind Mum in the door. "This place is like a maze!" He cried, "How is everyone?"
"Look at him!" Mum said, pointing at Dylan, "Isn't he sweet?" I handed him to Mum. "Go and get the present we got him!" "Ok!" Dad said, and brought in a big bag. "You shouldn't have!" Ally said, really shocked at the size of the present. I went over and opened it up, and saw it was a brand new car seat. "Thanks! But we can't accept that! It's too much!" I looked at them both. "Nonsense, nothing's too much for our little angel!" Mum said, stroking his head, as he smiled at her. "Did you already have one?" "No, thanks so much!" Ally said, as dad walked over to her and gave her a hug. "We were so worried."he said. "Me too, when you guys never showed up, I thought - " she started, she looked over at mum, "I'm sorry, I should've known that you wouldn't." "It's ok, we just didn't want too many people here annoying you." She said, laughing a little.
We all sat talking about stuff for a while, then mum and dad had to go. It was hard getting her to let go of him, I think given the chance she'd have taken him home. "I'm so glad your parents came tonight." Ally said, "I was beginning to think that, well, you know..." "I know, but hey, there are definitely no problems there, are there?" I said, and she shook her head, no. "I'm gonna go now." I yawned, after we had sat talking for a while. "I'll be back in tomorrow, ok?" She nodded her head, I walked over and gave her a kiss, then leaned down and gave the baby a kiss, trying not to wake him. "Bye" I whispered as I walked out, and shut out the light.
