| Chapter 19 ...bryan... I stood there for a couple of minutes, just looking at her. I couldn't help but feel guilty. If I hadn't lied, then she would have been at my parents with me, and not here, in hospital. She had a bandage on one arm, and one on one of her legs. I could hear a beeping noise, I looked up and realised it was the monitor for her pulse. I walked over to the bed slowly, and pulled a chair over to her beside. I took her hand and just sat there, in silence. I didn't know what to do, should I talk to her, could she hear me even if I did talk to her? I was snapped out of my thoughts by a knock on the door. I turned around to see who it was. Shane popped his head around the door, and I wiped the tears from my eyes. "Hey, any change?", I shook my head no."The others are here, and, umm, do you want me to call your parents, let them know what's happened?" He said quietly. 'God, I said I'd call mum.' I thought 'She'll be worried.' "I should call Mum" I started, I looked back at the bed, "oh god, why is this happening to us?!" I could feel tears again. "Look, you stay here, I'll call your mum, ok?What will I say?" "Just tell her what's happened. She doesn't know that we argued, so don't mention that." I said. He turned to walk out the door. "Thanks." I added. "It's ok."he said, and walked out. I decided to try and talk to her. "Ally?" I whispered, clinging to a hope it would wake her up. "Can you hear me?", but she never responded. I sat there in silence again, trying to think of what to say. I started to sing a song quietly, not even realising I was doing it. 'Its all about you, it's all about me,, working it out, thats what its all about.Baby, I was wrong about it, maybe u were right' I decided to try and talk to her again, I moved closer to her. "Ally?" I whispered. "Hey" she replied really quiet. I looked over and noticed her eyes open. "Bryan?" "Hey, you." I said really quietly "Hold on, I'll page a nurse." "Stay here for a minute," she said. "Its ok, there's a buzzer here, I'm not going anywhere." I said, as I reached over and pressed the button at the side of the bed. "OW!" Ally said, as she tried to sit up. "Hey, you ok?" "Yeah, just a bit sore. What happened?" She asked, looking at her bandages. "You don't remember?" "Were we arguing?" She asked. "I can kinda remember that. Are you still mad at me?" "No, of course not." I replied and took her hand again. "Hi there," a voice said, and a doctor walked into the room "How are you feeling now?" He asked Ally. "Sore, but ok" she answered him. He walked over towards me, "Could you wait outside for a few minutes? I just wanna check everythings ok." "Sure" I replied, "Ally, I'll just be out here? Ok?" She nodded her head and I walked out to see the others, and tell them that she was awake. A few minutes later the doctor came back out and walked over to me. "Bryan?" I nodded my head. "I need to speak to you about Ally's condition." He looked serious. "Is she ok?" I was getting worried. "Yes, but we have to keep her in here for a few days, but there's good news. The baby is ok. But we're keeping her in just to make sure." "Baby?" I said, shocked. "Oh, you didn't know, sorry." He said, "but you can go in a see her if you want now." He said, and walked back down the hallway. I stood there for a minute, shocked, then I decided to go back in and see her. Chapter 20 ...ally... I sat there in the bed, thinking about what the doctor had said. How was it possible, I had been told back home that we had lost the baby, now here I was being told 'umm, no, hey, ur still pregnant!'. God, now things were so much more complicated. Just when things had seemed sorted out between me and Bryan, something else had come up. 'What do I do now? Do I call him and say 'oh by the way,you are gonna be a father after all.'?' 'Did this mean that things were over between me and Bryan, I mean he flipped when I said his name by accident, how would he react to this?!' Yeah, looked like it was curtains for us. I was just sitting when Bryan walked back in. "Hey" he said, as he stood at the end of the bed. "Bryan - I -" I said. "Why didn't you say anything to me?" He asked, still standing at the bottom of the bed. "I didn't know, I'm just as shocked as you!" I said, I thought for a second "what does this mean for us us? Is it over?" "No! We just need to talk and work a couple of things out" he said, as he walked over to me. "I love you, and you know that." "Bryan, I'm so sorry about all of this..." I said, trying to sit upmore.. "Why are you sorry? You never lost the baby after all, you should be happy. I am."he said and smiled. "But it's not yours, " "I know, but that doesn't matter to me, I'm just happy you're ok." "It does matter though, I'm gonna need to call him, aren't I?" I asked, and Bryan nodded. "Help me up, I'm gonna call now, get it over with." "You shouldn't, not just now, wait until you're feeling better." "No, I want to get it done now." I said. Bryan helped me stand up. "Ouch" I said, realising how sore my ankle was. With his help, I walked out into the hallway, and saw the others all sitting there. "Hey!" They all said, "are you ok?" "Yeah, look I'll be back in a second,ok? I've got to call someone." Bryan helped me over to the phone, and I dialled the number, while Bryan told the others everything. I sat there, listen to the phone ringing, after a couple of seconds someone answered. "Hello?" A female voice said. "Umm, is Derek there?" I asked. "Hold on, I'll get him." After a few moments I heard his voice again. "Hey. " I said "it's me" "Yeah. How are you?" He asked. "I'm good, you?" "Same, but so busy, we're getting ready to go to America for 10 months!" "WOW! Good Luck!" '10 months' I thought. "Thanks, I'm glad you called, I thought you would never talk to me again." He said. "Well, I just thought I'd call to say no hard feelings about everything" I lied. "Good luck with stuff! See you later!" I hung up the phone, and immediately kicked myself for not saying anything. Bryan walked back over to me, "What did he say?". "I didn't tell him, they're going to USA for 10 months, so he's not going to be here, why bother telling him, he's obviously moved on." I said, as we walked back into my room. "He has a right to know." "I know, but he wouldn't be here for me anyway, he's going to be away. He doesn't even need to know anything." I said, as I got back into bed. "I meant what I said before , you know." He said, as he sat down beside me. "It doesn't matter to me, that it's his."He took my hand, "I'll be here for you, take care of you both, if thats what you want." I looked up at him, "It's more about what you want, don't feel you have to do this,I won't ask you to take all this on, it's not your responsibility." I replied. "I want to, ok?" "Ok, whatever you say." I said, laughing a little, it still hurt to laugh, "Ouch" "What is it?!" Bryan said, "Is it the baby?!" He looked really worried. I laughed again, I could tell he had meant every word earlier. Chapter 21 ...bryan... I was still in shock over everything, but in a weird way I was happy about how things had turned out. I still worried about things though. I had said that I would treat the baby like it was my own when it was born, and I meant that 100%, but how would my parents react? They would know that it wasn't mine, because simple maths would tell anyone that, would they be able to accept the child as if it was their own grandchild? And then there was the media to consider. Should we just let them know we were together? Or keep lying? All of us, Me, Ally, the guys, Nat and Pnut all decided that maybe we shouldn't tell the media. Look how I had to lie when we were dating, god, this would be ten times worse! One day, about 4 months later, I went into town for some shopping alone, and decided to pick up a newspaper. I walked into the shop and picked up a copy of 'The Star'. I was walking along the street, when I turned to page 5, to find a photo of me and Ally from a few days ago when we had went for a walk in the local park. We had managed to keep things quiet, I think I was stupid to think that we could keep it quiet, but I had hoped that we could have kept it secret until the baby was born, but I was wrong. I got home, and decided not to show the newspaper to Ally, because she would only worry. The article had her down as using me, and making out that the baby wasn't mine, I mean like 'Who hasn't figured that out?!' Anyway, the next day, I walked in home, after a recording session. "Louis called, he's coming around to see us later." Ally said, as I walked into the sitting room. "Oh?" "He never said why." She said, as she walked into the kitchen, "You want something to eat?" "No," I said, following her. I kinda knew what Louis wanted, it had to be about the article. "Any mail today?" She looked a bit shaky when I mentioned the mail "ummm, no," "Oh ok." We walked back into the sitting room when I noticed a pile of envelopes lying, she grabbed them and put the on the floor away from me. "No mail? What's that then?" "Nothing! Just leave it!" She shouted and picked up the envelopes, and walked into the bedroom with them, I followed her. "Ally?" Just then the doorbell rang. We stood there in silence for a moment, then I went and answered the door. As I expected, Louis stood there. "Bryan, is Ally here too? I need to speak with you both." He said, as he walked in, I noticed newspapers in his hands. "Yeah," I said, "I haven't told her about that yet, I'll go and get her." Just as I said that, Ally walked in the living room. "Hey Lou!" She said walking over to him, and giving him a hug. "Ally! How are you?" He said, as they both sat down. "I'm ok. But, it's out, isn't it?" Ally said, looking up at me. I noticed she had the envelopes in her hand. "These came today." She placed them on the table. Lou and I picked up a couple of letters each and started to read. The letters were hate mail letters from supposed fans, saying all sorts of stuff. "I was afraid this would happen, when I saw the articles yesterday." Lou said, placing the letters back on the table. "We need to do a statement to the media, tell the whole story, I'm not promising it will solve everything, but it's all we can do." "Yeah." Ally said, "As soon as possible." She stood up and walked into the kitchen. "I'll go see her." I said, Lou nodded his head. I walked into the kitchen, I saw Ally sitting on the floor. "I knew this would happen." She said, quietly. "Did you see the letters?! I don't know how much of that shit I can take." I walked over and hugged her. "How about we go and stay at my parents for a week or two?" I asked her. "Ok." She said, and nodded her head. "I'll go and call mum." I said, and we both walked out to tell Lou. We told Lou what we had decided and he agreed that it was a good idea, the media statement would attract more attention, and possibly more mail or other stuff at our house. I excused myself and went to call mum to ask her if it was ok for us to stay for a few weeks. She said it was ok, and that she would get my old room set up for us both, and that we could stay as long as we needed to. That night, we all gathered at our house to discuss the statement for the media. After an hour or so talking, we had finally decided what to tell the media. Three main points were in the statement -1 - we weren't hiding the fact that I was not the biological father, but I would act as the father in every other sense.2 - We were not going to name the father in the statement 3 - we wanted privacy from the media. We decided to publish it as soon as possible. With that out of the way, we all chatted about other stuff for the rest of the night, it was good, to just sit and laugh with the lads, we sat watching football on tv while the girls sat in the other room having a girly chat. At about 3am, everyone else left, leaving me and Ally in the flat alone again. She sat down beside me on the sofa. "Bryan?" I looked over, "Are we doing the right thing?" "Yeah, I'm sure." I said, reassuring her. "Why?" "I bet you wish you'd never met me now, look at all this hassle I've caused you." "Don't be silly." I said. "Trust me, everything's going to work out, ok?" She nodded, and I gave her a big hug, we fell asleep like that not long after. |
