Chapter 5
It was 2 p.m. the next day and many of us had gotten up a few hours ago.
Everyone was quite surprised to see Kian and Clara missing and even more surprised to find them cuddled up, sleeping in each other's arms, on the back porch. Oh, it was adorable. I smiled, things were turning out so nicely.
"Hey, Mei," Mark said approaching my side, "Wanna go for a walk?" he asked.
"I'd love to." I replied. "Ok, let's go."

"So." "Um, yeah." I nervously replied. It seemed so different when we
were alone. Mark was being so shy, and that made me feel uncomfortable. We continued walking down the beach, eastward, shuffling our feet and kicking the sand as we trudged along. I walked out to the water and walked just where it washed up on shore. Without thinking, I kicked at the water and splashed myself. I was soaked and upset. This was the only set of clothing I had since all of ours got stolen with the car. Just then I heard a laugh that interrupted my thoughts.
"Hey. What's so funny?" I snapped. "It's just, you're all wet and" he
couldn't finish, his laughing took over. "Oh so it's that funny then, eh?
Well take that!" I spoke picking up a handful of sand and flinging it in his direction. "Hey! That wasn't so funny" "Then stop me." I challenged, throwing more. Laughing. "Fine." He reached down to pick up some sand but I beat him to it and ran by squishing my handful into his hair.  He threw it at me but missed. I laughed and stuck my tongue out at him, but moved quickly when I saw him running after me. I looked up at the other houses along the beach. 'I wonder if they can hear us?' I asked myself but a sand-ball in my face interrupted my thoughts.
I looked at Mark and he looked back at me and we exploded into fits of laughter. "Ok. I think we should stop now." He said trying to be serious but I could still see a trace of a smile on his face. "Alright." I lied bending down to "supposedly" restrap my sandal but instead picked up some sand. I guess he noticed because the next thing I knew, he was wrestling me on the ground in a desperate attempt to remove the sand from my hand. I instead shoved it into his face and he got even more upset. I laughed because he looked so funny with sand stuck in his eyebrows. My laughing stopped when he stopped with our noses almost touching. "Oh." He said blushing and standing up to shake the sand off of his clothes. "Oh." I repeated softly.

Chapter 6
"Isn't it pretty out here." I asked sitting on a rock by the beautiful white-sand beach. "Yup." He replied. Our little "war" had helped lighten things up between us and now we were talking like old friends. He explained to me how the video was going to work and where it was going to be shot. We sat looking out at the "desert isle" that was going to be used in the video.
"You do realize there are plenty of birds on that island, don't you?"
"Birds?" he chirped, "Ugh I hate the things dirty, noisy, messy, did I mention dirty?" he rambled on. "Oooh. You're gonna have to go there tomorrow." I laughed. "Shut up." He joked, "By the way, what time is it?" "Oh. Um, 6.30 p.m." I replied having to finally be able to scrape the sand off the watch face. "6.30?" he exclaimed. I nodded and he continued, "then we better get back. We are going to, um, do something later." He added quickly. I could tell he was covering something up but I didn't mind, I loved surprises. "Ok let's go." I said leaping off the rock and landing on the sand.
"Owww!" I cried. I had just landed on my foot wrong and it was hurting like heck. "Mei, what's wrong?" Mark asked rushing to my side, "Oh your foot. Let me carry you back." He offered but I pushed him away. "I can manage on my own." I replied trying to convince myself. I walked a few steps then stumbled and fell again. "Is that offer still there?" I asked looking up at him. "You betcha." He said gathering me in his arms. I thanked him and smiled. I was surprised he could carry me at all. I was only an inch or two shorter then he was and I was no petite thing. As he carried me back I studied his face. I looked at his sky blue eyes, full lips and the sand that still remained in his hair. I giggled and he looked at me. "What?" he asked. "Oh I just noticed you still had sand in your hair. I'm sorry by the way." I apologized. He looked down at me, smiled, and said, "It's ok. I haven't had fun like that for ages. I grinned and said, "You're welcome." And gave him a small kiss on his cheek. We, I mean he walked on until we were almost at the house. I was glad this beach was usually so deserted as there wasn't any other soul on the beach.I looked back up at him nut he was no longer looking at me, smiling, he was in his own world.
"What are you thinking about?" I asked. "This." he replied placing his lips on mine while placing me back down on the sand (you didn't expect that he'd be able to kiss me and hold me in his arms above the ground at the same time did you). Much to my surprise I found myself kissing him back. It lasted for a few minutes, and I was sure I had a taste of heaven. I giggled as we sat down, side by side, watching the sun disappear below the waves.
"What were you doing?" a voice asked. I turned to face Kian and Clara in swim attire and holding surfboards. "Um, nothing." I replied hastily trying to cover my blushing cheeks. "Sure looked like something to me." Clara smirked, "I can't wait to tell Esther." She called back as she ran down the beach with her surfboard. "Bye!" Kian said racing to catch up with Clara. I laughed. "Now what's so funny?" Mark asked. His cheeks were dark red. I guess it was a combination of the sunburn he got all day and all the blushing that had happened in the last five minutes. "Nothing." I said again watching Kian half-holding, half dragging his board as he raced after Clara. I pushed this thought out of my mind kissed Mark gently on his red cheek and raced down the beach after Kian and Clara with Mark by my side.
