| The next morning I awoke to the ringing of my mobile phone. The phone? What on earth was the phone ringing for? I glanced at my alarm clock, and at 4:10am too. I sat up and blinked. Yep it was the phone. I wasnt imagining it. I reached out and picked it up. Hello? I asked sleepily. Hi Victoria, you took your time answering. I didnt wake you did I? came Richards voice from the other side of the line. No of course you didnt, I said sarcastically, I always get up at 4 am. What do you want anyway? Well thats a nice way to talk to me, I might just have to report this to your boss. Sorry, I murmured, Im just a bit tired. What is it you want? Well the meeting we had with Westlife today has been rescheduled. It seems we were somehow double booked. So now were meeting them at 5:00am at their hotel. Ill meet you in the lobby of your hotel at 4:30 ok? Before I could answer hed hung up. I looked at the clock; it was now 4:15. I jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom, I had a very quick shower, and then dragged on some clothes, quickly tying my hair back at the same time. I threw my notebook into my bag and only just remembering the key, ran out of my room slamming the door behind me. Not waiting for the lift I ran straight to the stairwell. This job is gonna kill me, I thought to myself as I grabbed hold of the banister to prevent myself from falling down the stairs as I rushed to the lobby. Just as I came down the last steps I glanced at my watch. 4:35, not bad. Come on! shouted Richard from across the empty lobby, as I ran across towards him. Ive been waiting for ages! I was about to complain when he disappeared out of the entrance leaving me to run after him. He always seemed to have the last word. I ran outside and got into his car, which was pulled up in front waiting. We arrived at the Westlifes hotel at 4:50, so we sat down in the hotel lounge to wait for them. At 5:10 Bryan and Nicky walked in looked very sleepy-eyed. They said hi and slumped down on one of the sofas by the near wall. Shane and Kian closely followed behind them. Mark will just be a minute, Kian said glancing across at me, hes doin his hair. Just as he was saying this Mark came up behind him. What was that? I heard my name. Oh nothing, just said you were coming. Oh ok, hi Richard, then turning and smiling at me, Vicky. I couldve melted from the way my name sounded dropping off the edge of his tongue in his soft Irish accent. I smiled and said Hi. The interview was pretty much the same as the last one, I felt my sketches to be better though as I wasnt so nervous, and when the interview came to an end I sat expecting Mark to come over and say something. He didnt, just got up and left the room when Bryan did. My heart sank. Id thought that he felt something towards me, but realised now that he mustve just been playing or had thought it funny to embarrass me. I hadnt thought that was like Mark, but what did I know, Id only met them yesterday, I guessed that my first impressions must have been wrong. I put my sketchbook into my bag and rose to leave. Richard, Vicky, before you go Id just like to invite you to a party tonight. Its one of my friends 21st and well I hope you can come, both of you. Kian said turning from Richard to me. I wasnt sure what to answer, so turned towards Richard. Richard didnt hesitate and accepted straight away. Youre not to come as reporters or whatever though, just come to have some fun, Kian said and getting a nod of agreement out of Richard he smiled and left the room. |
