| Part 19 (Bryan) The next day "Jess!" I yelled upstairs. "Come on, we'll be late!" "Ok!" She shouted back and came running downstairs, falling on the last one and tripping up. She started crying. "Hey come on! It's ok. We'll go and see Uncle Derek and the puppy." She immediately smiled and almost stopped crying."Robyn! We're going now! Is Dylan still asleep?" "Yeah. I'll see you two later. Good luck." "Thanks. See you later." We went out to the car. "Daddy, where are we going today? What stuff do we have to do?" " Me, you and Derek have to go to the hospital." I explained. "Who's sick?" "No one, remember when you were little and you got your jags?" She nodded her head. "Yeah, I didn't like that. Is that what's happening today?" I nodded. "But it won't hurt." She looked unsure, we met Derek and then got the test done. "They'll post the results?" I asked him. "Yeah." "I'll see you later then." "Wait a minute. How's Dylan?" "Still sick. If he's still sick tomorrow, we're going to call a doctor. Ok?!" I explained. "Ok, I was only asking. Don't get defensive!" "Get defensive?! Derek, you're trying to take my kids!" I cried. "I still don't understand why you're doing this." "Maybe I'm concerned for their welfare." He said. "Their welfare?! Why are you concerned?" I cried. "Well, Dylan's sick, look at Jess's leg." I looked down, it had bruised when she had fallen. "You can't take care of them yourself. You hired a complete stranger to look after them incase you were too busy!" "Actually," Jess started, "Robyn's Daddy's girlfriend, not a stranger." "Oh?" He looked a little shocked. "Is she?" I nodded. "Since when?" "2 weeks ago." "And what hahppens if you guys get married, say, have your own kids? Where will Dylan and Jess fit in then?" "What do you mean?" "Well, Dylan, he's not yours or Robyn's. And Jess, well, if she's yours, she'll be ok , I guess..." "Look, as far as I am concerned, Dylan is MY son, Jess is MY daughter - Robyn loves thpse kids too. You're talking nonsense! I'll see you later! Jess come on!" "Ok Daddy." She was still crying from the test. "Bye Uncle Derek." "Bye Jess." He said, quietly. |
