You said that you loved me,
I thought that this was true,
You said that you needed me,
And baby I believed that too,
I thought that you were shy,
But you put me straight with the wink of your eye,
I should have known better I know, I know,
But now my hands in my pocket every time I see you cry.

He looked around his empty hotel room and sighed sadly. How could he have been so stupid? He walked over to his unmade bed and dropped down onto the edge. He leaned forward resting his weary head in his hands. How did I get into this mess? he asked himself, looking at his tired reflection in the mirror directly in front of him. What he saw in the mirror shocked him. He got up slowly from the bed and edged cautiously over to the mirror. He looked at the tired, frowning face that stared back at him. He gently glided his fingers over the dark, sunken circles under his eyes. Well well well Shane Steven Filan. You never thought it would come to this did ya? he mumbled to himself, running his hand slowly through his un-brushed brown hair. He turned his back on the mirror and walked over to the pile of credit card bills sitting neatly on the top of the bedside table. He leafed through them, still unable to comprehend how hed allowed it to get so out of control. Theyd only been together two months and in that time shed spent FIFTY THOUSAND POUNDS of his money. Shane smiled bitterly, looking through each one of the bills. All shed had to do was pout her full scarlet lips, flutter those long luscious eyelashes and threaten to cry and his credit card was hers. How could he not have seen what she was up to? Even her best friend had warned him about her as shed done it before, but he ignored her and decided to turn a blind eye to her money grabbing ways. If only Id listened to her! If only I hadnt dismissed her warnings as her being jealous then I wouldnt have been in this mess! he screamed, a sudden rush of anger running wildly through his body. He threw the bills up in the air wildly. Why cant things go right for me for once? he thought bitterly to himself, slamming the bathroom door shut with force.

People think that youre so sweet,
But they dont know you quite like I do,
I guess they think that Im a lucky guy,
But youre not fooling everybody

The familiar tune of Shanes mobile phone filled the silent room behind the bathroom door. Shane stepped out of the shower, grabbing his bathrobe, allowing the soft cotton material to soak up the little beads of water running down his body. He grabbed a towel and exited the bathroom, towel drying his hair, being greeted with his mobile flashing wildly on the armchair. He looked at the screen and brought the phone close to his ear. Hello? he answered in his deep Irish accent. Shane! How are ye? asked Mark, sounding as if on top of the world as usual. Ive been betterbut I dont really want to go into details. Replied Shane, already disinterested with the phone call. I wasnt going to push you for the details anyway. Well Ill get to the point of the callI was wondering if you and Leigh Anne wanted to come out for a drink tonight? Theres no special occasion, itd just be a nice gathering before we go on tour. It was just going to be the lads at first but your Leigh Anne is such a laugh, I thought Id invite a few ladies. Youve got yourself a lovely girl there mate. Youre lucky to have found someone as special as Leigh Anne this early in your life. You be sure to keep hold of her. So what do you say? Will you and Leigh Anne be gracing us with your presence? asked Mark cheekily. Ermno I dont think so Marksorrymaybe some other time. Im not in the best of moods so I wouldnt be much companyand Leigh Annewell.she cant afford it. He mumbled, eager to put down the phone. Ahh Well mateits your loss mate. See you later. Shane hung up without saying goodbye. He placed his phone back onto the armchair. He walked over to his bed and slowly sat down, staring into space. Why did everyone think that Leigh Anne was so perfect? Why couldnt they see the money driven, manipulating person she was? Why cant they see that! yelled Shane, Picking up one of his shoes and hurling it across the room. He placed his head in his hands as tears fell down his face, his body shaking in between sobs.

You can have my credit card baby,
But keep your red-hot fingers off of my heart lady,
All I know is what I see,
Youre getting what you want and girl it aint just me,
No matter how you cry, Im not giving any love away,
Do you think Im crazy,
All I know is what I see, but what can I do,
When you pretend that youre in love with me baby

A light tapping at the door startled Shane. He jumped up, wiping the tears from his face. He took a deep breath and opened the door. She turned biting her lower lip, coming face to face with a tired looking Shane. Erm hi Shane. She mumbled looking at the floor, blushing wildly. M-Megan. What are you doing here? asked Shane, his voice quivering in emotion. I just thoughtwell Id come round and see how you wereyou knowsince you found out aboutermLeigh Anne. Come inI cant leave you standing out in the corridor can I? he laughed nervously, stepping aside, allowing her to enter. She looked around and sat on his unmade bed. He closed the door gently and stood for a moment silently. So Leigh Anne told you Id finally dumped her then. Have you come to rub it in and tell me I told you so? he spat bitterly. Yes Leigh Anne told me. But I havent come to rub it in. Believe it or not Shane I generally care for you. Why else would I have told you about what Leigh Anne was up to? Look my coming here was a mistake so Im going to go. She said forcefully, getting up and heading for the door. Megan please dont go! he begged, grabbing her arm and pulling her close to him. Im sorryI shouldnt have taken my anger out on you. Im Im just angry with myself for getting into this mess in the first place. Please dont go. He whispered, cupping her face in his hands. He leaned closer to Megans face and brushed her lips with his own. She kissed him back, running her fingers through his hair. She pulled away and walked over to the balcony door and rested her forehead against the cool glass. Meganwhats wrong? asked Shane worriedly. Wethat shouldnt have happened Shane. You obviously cared for Leigh Anneyoure feelings arent going to disappear overnight. I dont want to get hurt Shane. Its happened too many times before and Im not letting it happen again! I refuse to let it happen again. Im gonna go now. I shouldnt have come in the first place. Megan croaked, her voice quivering, tears filling her eyes. MeganI cared for you the whole time. I thought that you werent interested and when Leigh Anne showed the slightest bit of notice in me, I justI was just happy for someone to show me some affection. ImIm going to get dressedplease be here when Im ready. I think we need to talk some more. He replied desperately as he disappeared into the bathroom, shutting the door behind him.
Dont tell me you love me cause I know that its not true,
Just tell me you need my money,
Girl you know Ill give it to you,
Between the ocean and the sky there are things that you cant buy,
And if you look youll see,
One of them is me so get your hands,
Out my pocket

Megan looked around the untidy room. She kneeled down and picked up the credit card bills lying lifelessly on the floor. She walked slowly over to the balcony door and opened it. She stepped out, being greeted by the fresh cool breeze. Right, lets see what damage shes done. She sighed to herself, leaning against the handrail, leafing through the bills. My God! she gasped. How could she spend all this money? Megan sighed shaking her head in disgust. You stayed then. Pointed out Shane, a shy smile plastered onto his face. Megan nodded; still shocked by the amount of money her friend had spent. This is the first time Ive ever seen the damage that Leigh Annes done. I cant believe she brags about this kind of stuff. She said softly, covering her mouth with her hand. It doesnt matter now. Its not like I havent got the money to pay them off. Anyway there are more important things to talk about. And the important things to talk about are us right? she smiled, brushing past him to go back inside. Yes. MeganI really like youand I can see you feel the same way. Please dont let Leigh Anne get in the way of a brilliant relationship we could have. Im not saying lets jump straight into it but lets just take it each day as it comes. Its up to you. Each day as it comes? You know I could lose my best friend over this? But for the things shes put you throughIm willing to take that chance. Beamed Megan, wrapping her arms around Shane. Megan youve made me the happiest Ive been in a long time. Grinned Shane, moving closer to her, kissing her gently on her red satin soft lips. Megan pulled away at the sound of a sharp knocking at the door. Hadnt you better get that? she asked looking at the door nervously. Theyll come back if its important. No Shane. Answer it. I should be going now anyway, my mums probably wondering where I am. Shane kissed Megan again and walked over to the door. As he opened it, his huge grin quickly evaporated off his face, replaced with a look of pure hatred. Leigh Anne. What do you want? he asked, no emotion present in his voice. Oh Shaney babes please! Can I come in? she said, putting on a little girls voice, while fluttering her eyelashes. Shane stepped aside allowing her to pass. And now I have another reason to leave. Muttered Megan under her breath. Megan! What are you doing here? Leigh Anne asked shocked. I just came to see if Shane was alright. You two obviously have a few things to talk about to say the least so Ill leave now. She mumbled awkwardly. She opened the door and looked at Shane for a reassuring look. Shane smiled back at her lovingly. Ill call you as soon as I can. Whispered Shane. Megan nodded and shut the door behind her. Youll call her as soon as you can? Since when did you two become so chummy? asked Leigh Anne confused. Whats going on between myself and Megan to be quite frank with you, is none of your business. Anyway what do you want? Come to continue to wreck my life? he yelled coldly. Oh Shane, dont say that! I love you more than life itself. Shane laughed heartlessly. Stop playing games Leigh! You dont love me. In the beginning, I would have believed youbut nowwellyoure only out for one thing and Ive realised that. So stop messing about as Ive got things to do. What do you really want? Shaney babes! I dont want anything except your love. She grinned slyly. Dont call me Shaney babes! Look. Dont pretend with me! Just tell me what you really want! yelled Shane, unable to keep his anger under control. Ok! Ok! No! I dont love you! I never have and probably never will! Are you happy now!? Is that what you wanted to hear!? Is it!? she screamed, shaking in anger. Well its a start. What have you come here for? Huh? Money? Yes whispered Leigh Anne guiltily, looking at the floor. What was that? I couldnt hear that? YES! she shouted at the top of her lungs, tears beginning to fall down her face. Yes I came her for money. Are you happy now!? she sobbed. Yes Im extremely happy Leigh Anne. Ive just lost fifty grand of my money and Ive made a woman cry...yeah I have plenty to be happy about dont I! Look if youd have just asked me for the money I would have given it to you straight out, no questions asked, because believe it or not I cared for you once. But trying to get money out of me like that!? No Im not falling for that again! Get out. He whispered, his voice turning eerily quiet. Ex-excuse me? You heard me Leigh Anne. Get Out. Dont make me say it again. Shane spat viciously. Leigh Anne looked at him in desperation, then turned and stormed out, slamming the door behind her. Shane walked over to the door and leaned on it. Oh thank God thats over. He whispered to himself, collapsing on the floor. Who knew a credit card could be so much trouble. He thought to himself, picking up his wallet and getting out his credit card. He reached for his nail scissors and started cutting the card into tiny pieces. He picked up the tiny chunks of plastic and threw them up in the air, smiling happily, a feeling of relief washing over him for the first time in weeks.
