food is weird.

while i never intend to watch cooking shows, the remote somehow is drawn to them.

 plain vanilla

last night i watched one of those great chefs shows where the guy making the food never speaks english, and the person talking just skims over the process. i am guessing we aren't supposed to be capable of creating the wonderousness, so small details like the ingredients and the measurements aren't passed along to we of little cooking skill. sometimes, if i pay close enough attention, i can catch enough to recreate the recipe, but i will never ever want to recreate what i saw last night.

two words that should not be combined: dessert and asparagus.

don't get me wrong, i love asparagus, but it is not a sweet food. you can boil it with strawberries until the cows come home, but it still should be served with olive oil, or a little hollandaise. i also cannot conceive of daintily licking a chickweed ice cream cone. chickweed -- that's something a sheep grazes on. would you eat parsley ice cream? alfalfa sorbet?

thank heavens i have some good old fashioned french vanilla in the freezer. a little chocolate syrup and i'm set.

you scream, i scream, we all scream, claire
