got milk, you nazi?

my dad is addicted to news magazines and as such, left a stack of them behind.

i've been idly flipping through them, reading an article or two here, looking at yet more photos of jfk jr there but it wasn't until last night i hit paydirt: us news and world report, august 9, 1999.

"animal group calls milk racist," said the headline in the burlington (vt) free press. yes, indeed. people for the ethical treatment of animals was at it again, arguing that milk is a racist beverage because "tens of millions" of blacks, latinos, asian-americans and american indians are lactose intolerant, while most caucasians are not. sunshine, on the other hand, racistly burns more whites than minorities. *

and people wonder why the rest of the world is so bloody amused by our obsession with being politically correct.

does that go for chocolate milk, otherwise known as milk of colour, too? claire
