nail polish rorschach
i go through phases with nail polish.
for months at a time i will sport green and blue and yellow and even occasionally pink or red fingernails. then i won't wear the stuff again for a year or longer. i wear it more often in the summer than the winter. i always have my toenails painted some variation on emerald green, though; it is a weird sort of talisman, must have green toenails, must have green toenails. i'm not sure what happens if i don't have green toenails and i have no desire to find out what it might be.
because it is well known i am the most lazy girl on the planet, i am not so good about maintaining said polish once it is on my fingernails. i might remember to touch it up for the first couple of days, but after that, it is on its own until such time as it drives me up the wall and i finally rummage through the vanity top to find the cotton balls and remover.
in the meantime, between the touchups and the removal, i make the best of things and play the rorschach polish game. after some of the polish chips off, just what do the resultant shapes tell me? well, today this one told me i should be questioning my boss. the bit near the fingertip looks like a question mark and the big blob at the base reminds me of the uberboss with the big nose and all. so i questioned him and found out i may actually see a raise on my next paycheck. excellent news. it unnerved him a bit that i asked him about the possibilities of a raise just before he was going to tell me, but i like to keep him on his toes.
last week, i saw the virgin mary in my polish. unfortunately, she chipped in half before i could get the church to certify the sighting.
