1998 november 13

resolved

another wonderfully blustery morning.

pretty soon i am going to feel like winnie the pooh, the classic version of course. for those of you who may not be aware of the distinction, that would be the contemplative, sweet bear on the left, as opposed to the rolypoly, somewhat manic disney bear on the right. i don't actually have it out for the disney version as so many true blue pooh fans do; i just prefer the original.

i think i shall wear the mantle of pooh lover all day, in defense against friday the 13th evils that may be lurking in my immediate vicinity; it is hard for evil to overcome the pure goodness that is the silly old bear.

i have finally decided against both cutting and coloring my hair, at least for the time being. gene and i picked up six rolls of film from the developers yesterday and amongst said plethora of pics were a couple of me. my hair is an absolutely gorgeous color in the sun. since i rarely catch a glimpse of myself in a mirror while outside, or inside for that matter as i hate mirrors, i didn't realize how red it was. like copper on fire, baby! it's enough to warm the cockles of my chilly autumnal soul, so red it shall stay. and if it's going to stay red, it might as well stay long.

i am having an all or nothing kind of day.

i have also decided against further tattooing. at somepoint i had fixated on the idea of five, but as it became the trend of choice amongst the coolest of the cool kids on the block, i stopped at three. three is a good number. and they are good tattoos, easily hidden if i get sick of them or absolutely have to have a conformist day, discrete and beautiful when i choose to flaunt them. i dislike giant tattoos that cover large expanses of skin; they tend to define who you are instead of merely accenting it. i am not just the sum of my tattoos, but they are a wonderful accessory and the clasps never break so i don't need to replace them nearly as often as bracelets.

resolved this 13th day of november in the year of 1998: no hair changes, no new body mods. although, if i were given free reign over nature, i should like to have sideburns for a week. and a monkey tail.

further resolved: to actually earn my keep today. this week has been highly unproductive at the office. i get like this on occasion, just can't be bothered doing my job. fortunately, these little bouts of fucking off are almost always followed by bouts of supermanicproductivity. monday, watch out -- i'm going to tear through you like a hot knife through butter. wait, that would be slice through you. okay, tear through you like an evil black cat in a thin paper bag who has just caught a whiff of the salmon dropped by the little old lady who fell down and broke her leg while walking under a ladder in an attempt to recover the pieces of the mirror she just dropped.

all right, bad simile. but it is friday the 13th appropriate.

your answer blowing in the wind, claire
