the resulting chaos

i want to move to minnesota.

i always thought minnesotans were a little odd, and i am completely taken with that strange lilting accent they've got going, but now that they have elected an independent as governor, i am even more intrigued. not just any independent either, but a former professional wrestler. i can't wait until he puts someone in a headlock.

and just look at all that medical marijuana!

at first i was a little shocked that while the measures were passing in most of the states with medical marijuana proposals, one was failing in arizona. i mean that is a state positively overrun with the elderly -- glaucoma and cancer ridden people have got to be in favor of anything that alleviates their pain and discomfort. then i read the proposition and realized they were rejecting something that would weaken the already existing med/mj laws in the state. woo hoo arizona! everybody, let's get stoned.

and howzabout them bush boys? must be making the kennedys a little nervous to see a new dynasty springing up there in the south of the country.

those were the only things that got grins out of me last night, watching the results. i hate election night because you are slammed with live up to date coverage! every five minutes; you can't even attempt to watch anything other than obscure cable channels or pay-per-view. ah well, a night without the telly won't make or break me.

so the tube was turned off rather early because what i hate even more than the so called experts and incumbents dancing around changing their tunes as the proposition they were against suddenly passes, more than the drunk revelers in ballrooms all over the country, more the losers' concession speeches, is the self congratulatory pap spouted by the winners, as if their winning an election were a sign of approval from god, the heavens and the man next door, regardless whether almost half the men next door chose to vote for someone else or not. smugness, i hate it.

this as i sit smugly self righteous in my chair.

so enough about elections and enough about politics and since there was no republican landslide or democratic takeover, hopefully enough about mr president's sex scandal. and hopefully enough of the ribbing i have had to take from all my international friends about the idiocy of the whole situation. as an aside, i recommend anyone still interested in the whole mess read the latest issue of penthouse -- a wonderful article by vincent bugliosi on the damage done to the presidency by ken starr and the various sex scandals.

yes, i read it for the articles.

on her way to rip down every bloody political sign she can find, claire
