Norman Kelly
Original Paintings & Glass Inukshuks
Norman Kelly has been painting for over
thirty years and Norman's ambition is simply
to become a good artist. He feels this will require a lifetime of
constructive criticisms and change. He knows there are no child prodigies
in art and no short cuts.
He says, "The great
challenge for me is painting landscape from life, and greater yet, to
successfully include wildlife in such settings. The challenge being to
not only capture the time of year but the time of day. To paint the mood
of the day and at the same time put something of one's self into it."
Kelly has traveled to Britain
and Ireland several times, Europe and the Mediterranean, and Africa several
times. Nepal and China were visited in 1987. Part of the summer of
1989 was spent in the high Arctic. In 1990 Kelly lived and traveled with
the polar Inuit of Northwest Greenland. In 1991 he then traveled to
Baffin and Bylot Islands. In 1993 he visited South America and the
Antarctic and then again in 1994 travelled to Baffin Island and Greenland by
icebreaker, stopping at historic sites and Northern communities.
