Information about CL-ALB

The College Libertarians of Albright's purpose: "The purpose of CL-Albright shall be to promote, through educational and political activity, the principles and candidates of the Libertarian Party. " (Article III of the CL-Alb constitution). We support the Libertarian party'sprincipals and candidates. Our goal is to introduce Libertarian solutions and ideas here at Albright College and the surrounding community.

If you are a student, faculty member, alumni, or Berks county community member you are welcome to apply for membership into our organization. Our beliefs

We believe in the United States Constitution and the idea of limited government found in it. Our beliefs are founded in part by the following sections from The Declaration of Independence, The commonwealth of Pennsylvania constitution, and the United States Constitution:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed" The Declaration of Independence.

"All men are born equally free and independent, and have certain inherent and indefeasible rights, among which are those of enjoying and defending life and liberty, of acquiring, possessing and protecting property and reputation, and of pursuing their own happiness." Constitutionof the commonwealth of Pennsylvania

"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." Ammendment XIV U.S. Constitution

We believe that the sole function of government is to protect people's rights. We believe that when the government goes beyond its constitutional authority, the government creates more problems then solutions. To best protect these beliefs we support the National Libertarian Party
