Summer in Southern Arizona

During July 6th through the 17th I went on a trip to southern Arizona with Victor Emanuel Tours. There were four of us; all teenagers. The campers were Eric Enbody from MI, Jim Kuslich from TX, Mike Lester from NJ, and myself. Our amazing leader was Dave Jasper, who lives in Portal, Az.

Southern Arizona was simply one of the most amazingly beautiful areas in the U.S., and has a stunning array of plant and animal life like no other place on the planet. Some of the highlights of the trip were Spotted Owl, Whiskered Screech-Owl, Elegant Trogon, Lucifer Hummingbird, White-eared Hummingbird, Painted Redstart, and Botteri's Sparrow. We visited almost all of the birding hotspots and saw 190 species of birds. I loved how you could be in a Colorado habitat type and in ten minutes be in the desert. If I ever had the chance I would go back in a heartbeat. But enough of that, go see what made it the trip of a lifetime by looking below.
