Opens Montage (817kB, video)(NEW!):
Includes 4 opens from various eras like "1st News" (late
80s?), "U.News at Six" (early and mid-90s) and "Global
News" (1997?). These were taken from the sendoff montage for Russ
Froese aired in 2003. The link takes you to a separate server where the
file is stored. And for news theme fans, yes, it is Non-Stop Music's "Total
News" you hear on the Global News open. They used it for
a while before Global commissioned its own package.

"ckvu
News" Pre-Switch Promo (297kB, video):
This promo started to air mid- to late-August, in which CKVU urges
viewers to stay with the station's newscasts. This was the first hint
that CKVU would continue to use the same graphics and theme music after
the switch. This promo was still aired the week after Crossover.
Last Ever "Global
News at Six" (August 31st, 2001):
Jennifer
Mather mentions the switch (470kB, video)
Close

Joe Leary plays around with the Global mic flag in the close.
Last
Ever "Sports Page" (8/31/2001) Close (893kB, video):
Sean McCormack anchored the last ever Sports Page on CKVU. He mentioned
that the program would move "down the dial" (with no mention
of CHEK whatsoever), and thanked all the people who helped put together
the program in the last 24 years. We could even see people in the
control room waving goodbye. "Sports Page" did move to CH, but
the program was still produced at the CKVU studio until December.
Last Ever "Global
News at 11:30" (August 31st, 2001):
Bumper
and Open (336kB, video):
Dag Sharman anchored the last ever Global newscast on CKVU. The switch
to "ckvu13" was mentioned in the pre-show bumper.
Close
(637kB, video):
The "Global News" signs on the monitors behind Dag are
replaced by the new ones labeled "ckvu News." They were the
only station to have this kind of switchover "ceremony." The
closing sequence featuring the "Global News" logo is seen for
the last time ever on CKVU.
First Ever "ckvu

Close
(274kB, video):
Simi Sara anchored the station's first newscast as "ckvu13."
Sure enough the station kept the graphics and the theme music (even the
wire-frame globe symbol) left over from Global. However, the station
switched to a new news theme in mid-September 2001.
ckvu13 "Under

ID
1 (209kB, video), ID
2 (180kB, video), ID
3 (209kB, video):
These IDs involve construction workers working on some sort of project
("Citytv Vancouver"?).
CKVU-TV
25th Anniversary Montage (1.15MB, video):
This montage was shown during ckvu News at 6 and 11:30 on Friday,
September 7th. It showcases clips of the station from the last 25 years,
including glimpses of the "CKVU First News" and VU13 news
sets. CKVU had probably gone through more changes in 25 years than had
many other TV stations on the continent.
"ckvu

"ckvu
News" 2002 Close (380kB, video):
CKVU updated its news graphics in January 2002. Despite the update, the
wire-frame globe left over from the "Global News" era seemed
to be even more prominently featured than ever...
"ckvu
News" 2002 Bumper and Open (607kB, video):
... until late February, when the station got a new set of graphics
altogether. The reign of wire-frame globes from the Global News era was
finally over, replaced by new, bright, colourful graphics.
Jennifer
Mather Blooper Reel (1.72MB, video):
Jennifer Mather left the station March 15th to spend more time with her
family.

Citytv Preview: Part
1 (1.09MB, video), Part
2 (1.31MB, video):
CKVU officially announced on June 6, 2002 that the station would become
Citytv in July. That night a preview of the new station was shown during
the 6pm newscast. Included in this preview are CHUM Television president
Moses Znaimer, the Breakfast Television quartet, and Monika Deol, who
would anchor CityPulse at 11. The preview was intentionally divided into
2 parts by the webmaster.
(Note: Part 2 contains almost-full female frontal nudity.)
"Under
Construction" ID: Countdown to Citytv (202kB, video):
After the official announcement on June 6, various elements of Citytv
began to seep into the station, not the least this ID here. It seems
that with each passing week, more and more pieces of the "Under
Construction" theme breaks away to reveal more and more of what
will be in store for the station next.
"...Are you ready
for Citytv? We think you are."
