In Viewtiful Joe you play as, well Viewtiful Joe. Joe can use, after unlocked, special moves. First you get slo-mo to slow down time and hit incredibly fast enemies. Shortly thereafter, you gain the ability to go into Mach Speed. This allows you to go super-human fast to chew down enemies at a high rate of speed. One you have both of those, in the second epesode (some like it red hot) you gain the ability of zoom.Once in zoom you can activate special kicks and jumps. In addition to all of those special features, after each (very long) level, you are granted the power to buy stuff. This "stuff" ranges from a simple hamburger to use on command and gain health, to room clearing monster spells.
This game is addicting, and is a #1 pick for gamecube (and PS2 pretty soon) owners.And with a cheap $40 price, you should buy this with no problem at all. I give Viewtiful Joe by Capcom a 5 out of 5.
Concept - 5 out of 5 - Nothing has ever been attemped like this EVER. They had an interesting concept, and it delivers!
Graphics - 5 out of 5 - Cool cartoony cell-shading, i like the motion blur when in slo-mo and the framerate doesn't drop, even when you're in speed mode.
Sound - 3 out of 5 - Nothing spectacular here, but not terrible, i like the punching sounds, but the music is pretty bland.
Animation - 5 out of 5 - Joe looks... well... VIEWTIFUL!
Gameplay - 5 out of 5 - Perfect blend of combat and strategy.
Overall Score - 5 out of 5 - This is a title Gamecube and PS2 owners don't want to miss out on.
