In a recent survey of my classes I found that 67% to 75% of my students have an internet connection available at home.  This makes a web page a valuable tool for communicating with the majority of your class and their families.

Recently improvements in technology have made it very easy to create web pages with very little knowledge of the "behind the scenes" working of the computer.  The actual "language" used to make web pages is referred to as HTML.  We will not be learning HTML, but will instead be using a web page generator, a point-click-type style interface.  All of the HTML will take place "in the background."

You will create a working web page by the end of our 6 hours together.  In fact, the actual page creation will occur shortly and the rest of the time you can work on your web site -- several pages linked together as a cohesive and useful whole.

As an introduction, let's look at some of the uses teachers have found for web pages and examine some actual teacher pages pages that are on the net.
