2. ANTHONY MORSE (ANTHONY1) was born May 09, 1606 in Marlborough, Eng, and died Oct 12, 1686 in Newbury, MA. He married  ANN COX May 02, 1629 in the church of St. Mary the Virgin, Marlborough, England She died March 8 1679/80 in Newbury, MA. 

He arrived, with his brother William, in Boston on June 3, 1635 on the Ship "James" which sailed from Southampton April 5, 1635. He built a house about a 1/2 mile south of the old cemetery in what is now called Newbury old town. He is listed, along with his brother on the ship's passenger roster as being a shoemaker. He was admitted as a Freeman May 25, 1636.

I anthony Morse of Newbury in the name of god amen i being sensible of my own frality and mortality being parfit memory due make this as my last Will and testament comminding my sole to god that gave it and my body to the dust in hope of a joyful rasurixtion and as for my wourly goods I dispose of as foloieth,
I give and bequeth to my son Joshua Morse making him my lawful eaire all my housing and lands both upland and meddow with my freehould and privilidge in all comon lands both upland and meddow alweais provided that if the toen of Newbury dou divide any part of the comon lands that then the on halfe of my freehould shall be the lawful inheritance of my son benjeman morse all so I geue to my son Joshua morse all my cattell an horsis and sheep and swuine and all my toules for the shoemaking trade as allso my carte wheles dung pot plow harrow youkes chains houes forkes shovel spad grin stone yt as allso on father bed which he lieth on with a boulster and pillo and a pair of blinkets and courlitt and ton pair of shetes a bed sted and mat a pot and a brass cetell the best of tou cettles and a belmetell scillet and tou platars and a paringer and a drinking pot and tou spoons and the water pails and barils and tobes all these about named I give to my son Joshua and his eaires of his own body begoten lawfully than then all above geven to my son Joshua shall Return to the Rest of my children upon the peayment on good peay to my sons widow besides what estate she att any time brought to her husband she the said widdo shall injoy the houl estate on half year before she shall surrender

IN THE NAMES OF GOD AMEN. I, William Morse, of Newbury, being sensible of my owne mortality, I doe make this as my last Will & Testament, committing my soul to God yt gave it & my body to the Dust, & as for my worldly goods I dispose of them as followeth: I give to my beloved wife, during her naturall life, my house & barne, & all my land adjoyning to tin house, & all my marsh & meadows yt I have in Newbury, with my free-hold.-

It: As also all my living stock & all my household goods & all other utensles.

It: And after my wife’s Death, all above named, I give to my daughter Abigail Hendrick, and her children, if shee dye Before my wife; Shee or they paying those Legacys following to the rest of my children within three years after my wife's Decease.

It: I give to my son Jonathan Morse five shill; I give to my son Obadiah Morse 20 shill; I give to my daughter Elizth 5s and to her four children, I give twenty shilling apiece I give to my daughter Hanah Three pounds, & to her son John Stiles,five pounds, Also, my Will is that my daughter Abigail and her Husband Jno Hendrick live, as they now do with my wife, for the managing that Estate I leave them, for the comfort & supply of my wife in her age, & if my son-in-law John Hendrick, & his wife, or their children, do neglect or refuse to take such care of my wife in plowing for her as her need doth require, for her comfortable supply, on all accounts while shee doth live, that then I do hereby will & empowr my Overse’ers, hereafter named, to sell & dispose of any part of my meadows, as they shall think meet, for the supply of my wife, to help her with wt shee doth need. I appoint my wife & my son-in-law John Hendrick, & my daughter Abigail Hendrick Executors of this my will. And I appoint my loving friends Capt. Danll Pearce & Tristram Coffin & Nathan Clark my Overseers to take care to see the performance of this my will & I do hereby order the prformance of this my Will & I do hereby order my Executors to receive & pay all my debts & Legacys according to this my will.

Bee it know unto all men by these presents that I Anthony Morse --- of Newbury being sick & weake of body but of perfect memory desir here to make my last will and Testament comending my soule unto the hands of my blesses Redemer, and my bosy to the dust from whence it was taken in an assured hope of a blessed resurrection, & do here dispose of my worldly goods as followeth 

Impris. I give and bequeth unto Mary my wife my goods & cattle & appoint her to be the sole executrix of this my last will & testament and to have the house and all my land in her possesion untill my son Anthony shall be of the age of one & twenty years, and he my said son Anthony shall live with her untill he be eighteen yeares of age, & then I would have him put to learne a trade, And if my wife shall change her condition then my said son when he is of the age of ane and twenty years shall have my house Barne Orchard & all my land & freehold for himselfe & heirs forever, paying to his three brothers viz. Joseph John & Peter; ten pounds a peice, & to his sister mary ten pounds when they shall be of the age of one & twenty years but if my said wife mary shall not marry againe she shall have the said house & land she shall have the said house & land in her possesion untill my said son Anthony shall marry, and then the said house and land to be divided between them during my wives life & after to be wholy to the use of my said son. Anthony, And then when the house & land shall come wholy unto his hands then within four years after he shall pay the abovesaid, and also pay to his sister Elizabeth forty shillings at the day of her marriag: And I also give to my daughter Elizabeth aforesaid her owne mothers apparrell. and I desire that my son Joesph may be put to learne a trade that is I desire he may be a Tailor; and for my debts & funeral to be discharged by my Executrix this is may last will & Testament revokeing all other wills In witness wherof I have set to my hand & seale February 23 1677.

In the Name of God Amen I Anthony Morss of ye Town of Newbury in ye County of Essex. Massachusetts In New England who { } In good health & memory thro. ye mercy of God to mee but considering my frailty & mortality Do make this my last Will & Testament __ and as to those good things of this world which God hath given mee I give & Dispose as followeth

My Will is that my beloved wife Sarah shall enjoy ye whole share until yt my son Anthony come fully to be of age of twenty one years and I doe also give to my beloved wife all my household goods & pork & cattle to be att her own dispossing & also one half ye dwelling house which shee pleasoth & also two thirds parts of all ye lands ye I have given to my son Anthony so long as shee doth remaine my widow for ye bringing up of my children also I doe order & appoint my beloved wife & my son Anthony Morss to be Executrix & Executor to this my Will_

Imprimised: I give to my dear & loving wife Joanna, five pounds in bills of credit, as sixteen shillings pr ounce or in other things equivalent thereto, besides what we agreed upon before marriage.

Item.
