Francess
is a trained economist from the University of Asia and the Pacific (Manila, Philippines).She
was also educated at the Ateneo de Manila University for a degree in Masters of
Arts with Majors in English Literature and Creative Writing. As Director of
Publications of Solaenum Publishing Manila, she was the editor of Haranya:An Anthology of English and Filipino
Literature. She is a poet and a fictionist who was part of WORDFEAST’04. In
2004, her collection of poetry Red Bone
Jazz: Poetry of the Unblued was launched. She is also series editor of Dream Cocktails: New Dadaist Poems, a
literary project that aims to motivate students to find inspiration in Tristan
Tzara’s movement. Solaenum Publishing Manila is currently preparing to launch
the very first Filipino Asiatics novel, in an attempt to revolutionize how
Filipinos read.
When
she is not working, she goes to the beach, practices Cohen on her violin, tends
a rose garden, tries to master Handel on the piano, and financially supports the
theatrical presentations of her friends in Manila.
