Travel

Joy and I enjoy exploring together, seeing new landscapes, historic architecture, and experiencing other cultures.  Below are a few of the places we have been, and some insight on what we found.

Germany:   Joy and I spent 7 days in Germany during November of 2002.  We stayed in Bitburg, and took day trips to Luxembourg, Koln, Triere, and Vienden.  I think every town we visited had a cathedral older than the United States, and many still have their medieval city walls and castles still standing.  Vienden's castle, for example, is almost completely restored for tourism.  The town below breathes history with its old stone walls and cobblestone streets.

We were also fortunate enough to visit the incredibly huge and ornate Dom Cathedral.  The size and detail of the exterior was staggering.  The interior is so voluminous that after dusk it is impossible to see from one end to the other.

Triere is the home of the Porta Negra and a wonderfully lively street adorned with a variety of shops.  There is a clock tower at the center of the picturesque town, and the outskirts offer several interesting ruins, as well as a garden.

Chincoteague: A peaceful wildlife preserve on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.  It's not far from home, which makes it a nice weekend vacation spot.  If you're ever there, be sure to visit AJ's for some amazing seafood.
