There aren't many wild caves in Maryland, and they aren't well publicized, but the challenge of finding
them makes it more rewarding when you do. This list isn't complete, I am certain, but it is a start.
I have it on good authority (Washington County Search and Rescue) that there are 52 published caves in Washington
County alone. I'll list what information I can as it becomes available. Feel free to mail me, if I can be of assistance.
Whitings Neck There is a 45 foot drop is this cave, make sure you are equipped properly.
Sniveleys Number 3 Tight entrance in the base of the hill. 8 foot drop inside. There are some
good limestone formations, and this is where I ran into the friendly black
snake.
Indian Church Shelter Cave Easy exploration.
Revels Cave
Crabtree Any spelunker would love to get into this cave. It is out in Garrett county,
and has over two miles of tunnel. Unfortunately, it has been closed for
some time for research.
Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints, kill nothing but time.
