It is just this poverty that has been creating a vast exodus of young people like Eugene Robu who spent five years working in Israel. Only after a suicide bomber took the life of a friend did Mr Robu pack his bags and come home. It is these young men and women, returning with their western money and new ideas that are playing a major role in changing the face of Moldavias traditional Catholic villages. Though their equipment is second hand, much like the days at the old sand lot, their spirit is strong. Last season, these hard working young girls from the little Catholic village shocked the entire nation and took home the Romanian championship. THE END |
