"your day" by Chuck Beals

your day

did you see the light in the sky this morning?
not a star or comet
but a sure and true glow
rising with the soul of the season

it grazed the edge of maple leaves
stretched gracefully into the day
reaching through unfolding moments
like a wishful child

there on the apple blossoms it grew
spun its fibers through daffodils
followed the early jays to the feeder
wove magic in the crystal grasses by the marsh

and in the welcoming ceiling of a blue May sky
it painted true and hopeful arrays
arched against vaults of imagination
spattered images of flower and folded leaf

spring was in its full commitment
awash with deep and living colors
stubborn soil had once again yielded
to green and vine and tendrilled root

I knew these very signs
saw the nature of its form
and guessed the secret ancient wisdoms
that had marked this day
for you
